quote: so what happened tho...i think its time to hear a good story..
Not much to tell, I screwed up in or right after a left hand turn at an intersection on a cold damp morning.
After 22k miles of knowing how my bike feIt and handled, I had just finished several mods the day before, removed the flies, installed a pcv and a fuel moto map, installed new pilot pures (not even 20 miles on them at time of wreck). And had recently gone down a tooth on the front to 16/43.
After a long trip on the ferry off the island the tires were stone cold, took the turn like Id done so many times before, I remember getting thrown off the bike and hearing a loud pop! in my helmet.
My visor was not locked and popped open at some point, it looks as though my nose slammed into the top right point of the upper fairing, (busted nose). It looks as though I landed on my right sholder and head.
My own fault, I should have been more cautious after all the changes I made. I was lucky, There was no one els involved, no damage other than me getting banged up and my bike needing about 800.00 in fairings and parts + new exhaust.

Out of all the mods you think it was the new tires? I'm sure the mods didn't help, but there's that slick coating on the tires when new.

Ok guys this is why new girlfriend is so much better than my old one. She knows how much I enjoyed my 14, and at times like right now I think she enjoys it as much as me!
She just now suggested to go all out on the "rebuild" of the bike with all new 2010 red take-off bodywork and tank, new Full exhaust of my choice and she also likes the lowered and stretched look, so I figured what the hell and said lets go lower and stretched with bolt on extensions and lowering links! Along with a custon dyno tune by a local well known tuner at pacific raceways WA "Nels" Ive been wanting to do these things for years!
The ordering of parts starts tomorrow! As always your guys input and advice is greatly appreciated.
-here are a few pics from my screwup.

Glad to hear that you are ok now. I had just gotten hit by a truck on my bike that took off, sad thing is that it was the day that I had bought it. Busted my shoulder up really bad which ended up being a type 3 AC separation which looks like a bit of what you have going on besides the broken collar bone and I also have a cut ligament. Hurts like a bitch still even after 2 months a 8 days. hope you recover good and get back on her quick.

Nice collarbone, I got one like that but in 3 pieces, still flips out x-ray techs 30 years after I did it. I just couldn't see having all that hardware they wanted to install so It never healed back together. Doesn't bother me any more just looks bad. Hope you heal well & best of luck getting your bike together.

hope you don't need any type of surgery on the shoulder. I just went to the doctors for a check-up and he said that he is definitely gonna go through with some surgical remedies. Hope you dona have to deal with that crap. take it easy for a while and be careful wrenching.

My doctor told me I will need surgery to repair the collar bone break, its a nasty break and to far apart to heal togather. I hope to get into the ortho's office tomorrow. Ive been taking it easy, mostly ordering parts and watching tv all day in the lazy boy lol.
I decided on roaring toyz bolt on extension and lowering package with all the stuff needed in anidozied black. Still waiting on my new plastics and tank to be shipped, but that should be soon..
Last will be a full exhaust, muzzy or brocks idk yet. Im trying to find the best deal outside ebay for the exhaust (i will never use ebay or paypal again.

Doctor now says It looks like my collar bone may heal on its own now, and wants two weeks to see what happens to make a final decision, but either way is 6-8 weeks before even thinking about riding again!

If you have good insurance ask for a second opinion. Some ins. co. have to have the Doctor refer you for the ins. to cover it..... Doctor has to be on their list etc... were some of the excuses I got from our Doctors office when the bills came in......... been there. That was several years ago, we have better health ins. now and a different doctor. :-)
