R1 wheel mod, 1K gone

Here is a finished pic of the 04-06 R1 wheels on the 06 1K. The back was bolt up using the Suzuki rear axle. The front had to have the stock Suzuki axle machined and spacers made to space it for the brake caliper to work with the R1 disc. the 3 mil pulled hard. Had an offer to buy the bike if it would go a 5.50 with their rider on motor. After a bag of 100's was produced they took the bike for a spin. The guy was a decent rider. first ever pass on it. 5.57. so me and my fiend left with his bike and 77 100 dollar bills. I am going to start looking for a used Ski Boat this week. The Turbo Busa is still at the dyno after 7 weeks. He called and said the radiator had busted and the Powercommander was bad. So I got another Rad. on the way and I bought a PC3R which is a little better because you can remove timing with it. I hoe to get it back this week.

Yea it still will. 1K's are great because they are small and don't weigh much. But along with that comes smaller parts that don't hold up as well as the 14 or Busa. The rods and bearings are small and so is the clutches and valve springs. I am also on the hunt for a good deal on a 14. Around here for a long time it was the Busa at the track now it's a sea of 1K's. Hopefully I can get the Busa back this week.

It's getting that way around here I'm the only one that rides big bikes still, them 1ks don't need much power but they sure do kill moors with them bigger shots of spray.

Yea, I know. It keeps me in spending money building them on the side. The 1K's make a really good platform for the 1/8th mile tracks which there are a bunch around here. They can be made quick really easy. Take the 05-08 and put a thin headgasket and the 01-04 transmission in it, weld up the slipper clutch and with an arm and some mapping go high 5.60's in the 1/8th all day.
