Lost another old friend today ..
Carl ( AKA Moose ) Taylor worked for Texas Motor Plex in Ennis Texas and was a true drag racer .. We were close friends and had raced with him back when i lived in Coriscana Tx ..From the info i got he was at the motor plex racing ATVs when he crashed .. He was air lifted to Parkand hospital in Dallas .. 5 days in the hospital to get him stable for surgery to repair broken ribs that had punctured one of his lugs .. I was told the surgery went well but things started going down hill the next day and he lost his fight .. Moose is now up stairs racing with my other two old friends Ray Scoggins and Ronnie Lee..
Three Friend lost in a very short time .. Guys becarefull out there , i don't want to lose anymore of my friends ..

Lee I am really sorry to hear this! I have known Carl for years we both race Ford Mustang. I have not race cars for a few years but every time we took our bike out to TMP Carl was always at the starting line to operate the tree. It was only three weeks ago on a Thursday night that we rode our bikes out to TMP my son was racing and I walked up to the line and shook hands with Carl like I usually do, little did I know that would be the last time I would ever see him.

Thanks Ken .. Moose was a hoot .. I took him for a ride in my Boss 429 Stang back in 1976 and scared the crap out of him .. Moose returned the favor by taking me for a ride in his V8 Vega ..  Long before there was a TMP we raced together at Seven Points and before Seven Points opened we raced the streets of Corsicana Tx .. We were just young and crazy kids back then ..

Sorry to here this Lee. R.I.P. Carl. He will be missed. I met him at TMP when we had a V8 Vega, we raced it at Green Valley too before TMP was built. Back in the 70's I worked a Ford Dealer that raced boats with a BOSS 429 Hemi..big azz Holley carb. with a clear dist. cap...odd I remembered that.

Louis small world .. The engine in my Boss Mustang came out of a boat the held some word records .. It was built by another friend of mine named Buddy Grace ..I'm still in touch with Buddys nephew Donnie Grace who ownes a 68 Roadrunner i had in the mid 70s .. Donnie is building a big inch hemi for the car ..
I left Tx around 81 , at the time i was working for Sewell Village Cadillac in Dallas .. I'm sure you remember them ..

A man named Tom Pickering owned a Ford dealership in Ft Worth back then.Texas Motors Ford. I think the Boats name was Pink Panther II. I remember seeing the old drab green 18 wheeler pulling in back lot with two crate engines. BOSS 429 Hemi's. I wonder if it was those two engines????

Louis it could be .. I wish i knew more of the history of that motor .. I raced the car at Green Valley a few times but mostly at Seven Points .. At the time i owned that car i was working at Goins and Wetherby Ford in Corsicana Tx .. For the day that boss motor was pretty fast .. My best 1/8 mile was 7.08 and if i remember right it ran low 11s at Green Valley .. Carl called my old stang the Shot Gun because everytime i fired it up with open header eveyone ran for cover ..lol.. I found out later Shot Gun was fords nick name for the engine ..
