ZX-14 Stock Pistons and cams makes 211 hp

Just thought you guys might like to see this. Here's an example of what a zx14 motor can do with all factory parts in it. It has stock pistons, crank, rods, cams, valves, springs, etc. in it. It does have our 47mm throttle bodies and our latest version of our Super Sport head on it with degreed cams.

This was dynoed before and after on the same dyno with mr12 fuel.

Wow, that is impressive. What's the compression ratio if it is running on MR12?

Nice, those are the mods I have been planning for this winter. I will definitely be getting in touch with you towards the end of the season.

Jim,

With the weight of the bike and rider, do you see any problem running MR12 (since the Motor Octane is 87) in the 14 with 13.2CR in LSR events?

That's some great numbers and with a bone stock bottom end it should be very, very reliable.

Wow that red A/F line was pig rich .. The blue A/F line is too lean , with ram air that thing is going to be deep into the 14s A/F ..
I like the hp numbers , Jims SS head makes great power and add MR12 it gets even better !

I think 203 to 204 hp on pump gas would be in reach ..

Dan, the R+M/2 octane rating is typically about 4-5 points higher. About a 91 or 92 octane rating, or about equal to pump super. That number that is what you are used to seeing at the pump. You can run 13.5 to 1 and pump super in any of these modern shallow chamber engines.
So I don't see a problem at all.

We have had feed back of 198-202 on shell 92 from several customers. The shell 92 seems to make the best power from the pump.

Lee, the map sensor will add fuel to compensate for any changes in manifold pressure.

I have data logged at over 200 mph and compared the data to the dyno a/f ratio and the computer compensates for ram air pressure. The a/f ratio stays consistent. But that was on a 2000 zx12r. I'd imagine the zx14 does the same.

The tests in the graph above were done with mr12 fuel.....

Thanks Jim for the info.

Also, am I right in assuming that the SS headwork you perform leaves the ports untouched?
Just a valve job and milling the head?

Jim Brock sets up around 12.9 on the dyno for his Drag map and his Maxton Map is 3 % richer than that for a reason .. I'm just saying ..

Dan, yes, an AMA SS legal head does not have any touching up of the ports. Its not allowed. However if the customer doesnt need to be legal for SS racing then we can do some hand blending of the valve bowls and rubber manifolds.

Steve, Brian tuned it and I'm not sure where they left the a/f ratio. I personally like 12.7 - 12.9 or so even thou 13.1 seems to make the best dyno power.
I'll have the actual run files soon so I can open them and get a good look.

Jim i'm sorry to say this but Jesse sold the head before i had a chance to install it ..Jesse got completely out of racing.. The only head we got to test was one i had my head guy do a little work on .. It was milled 20 thou and had a little work done under the intake seat .. Nothing was done to the exhaust side .. Jesse bike went for 171 HP to 184 HP same day same dyno on the same map .. A gain of 13 HP made us pretty happy with so little work done to the head..

Depends on compression, fuel, pipe etc.
We have had our cnc ported head and cam packages make well over 230 on 1417cc.

It really depends if you want to set it on kill, drag race only, or run pump gas on the street.
