No-Mar Classic review
A quick review of my No-Mar Classic tire changer.
Was delivered very fast, took less than a week. The first thing I do is check that all parts and hardware are accounted for, I found that a set screw for the mount/demount bar was missing, and later I noticed that the set screws for the balancer cones were not brass as advertised (the brass set screws do not damage the tool rod as easily as steel). Locating brass set screws has been a pain. A quick call to No-Mar to ask for the set screws was met with what seemed like a sarcastic disbelief that they could have done anything wrong, but he assured me he would send out the hardware the following business day, its going on two weeks and still waiting..
On to the set up and operation, The assembly was quick and very easy, the only pain was drilling holes in my concrete floor in my shop to mount it to the floor (my hands are still numb from almost 2 hours of hammer drilling). My first tire change with this machine was a breeze, the better part of a 12 pack in me and still didn’t scratch or nick my wheel, (if you damage a wheel with this machine, just go ahead and do the world a favor and walk off a cliff).
The mounting blocks that hold the rim in place are fantastic! You can not damage the wheel with these things no matter how hard you try, if you set the cam block to loose the rim can spin in the mounting blocks, but I will not damage the wheel at all! All and all it’s a great machine, I don’t know how I've gone so long with out my own motorcycle tire changer such as this. And charging 20.00 a wheel it is paying itself off QUICK in my small shop.
Even though the guy I spoke with dropped the ball with customer service, it was just a minor thing, I highly recommend this tool to everyone with a motorcycle. Never again will I have to a motorcycle service department, Never again will I fork out 80.00 to have my local stealership's 20 year old newb change my tires and scratch up my wheels.
