I get promotional E-mails from Brock.Thats how I found out about Midrock at Budscreek a few years ago.Rickey G got married that day so he wasn't there.I couldn't afford to go this year and he raced, figures. In Rickeys own words Brock took over where Muzzy left off.Glad I bought Brocks pipe, the map is great and I only tried one. Thanks Brock.

I got the same email. The only thing that stood out to me was mentioning something about Rickey Gadson putting the BST's and Tiwinder on his own LSR bike.
Well, as far as I know, Rickey Gadson doesn't have an LSR bike. The bike was built and is owned by Jim Gilnack at Competition CNC. That bike never went down the track with those parts on it....and I don't believe it has any of those parts on it now?? Rickey did ride Jim's bike at Loring, though. So maybe that is where the confusion came from?

Jims bike was on display at the IMS shows around the country during the winter. It has Rickey Gadson lettered on it and also his number so alot of folks assumed it belonged to him.
There was a small display board with Competition CNC and told of the mods but Jims name wasn't there, only RG's.
I for one would have liked to see Jim get more recognition.

It did indeed have those parts on it when I saw it in DC at the IMS Show. The placard in front of it said it was the "Competition CNC ZX-14 Ridden by Rickey Gadson"

As I was saying, it is Jim's bike...not Rickey's. Here are the parts the bike wore when it was actually raced:

As I say, I don't believe it has any of those Brock's parts on it now....nor was it ever ran with them. In fact, it didn't even have a runnable engine in it at the show.
I guess the point made in the email should read, "Jim's bike, with a non-functional engine, displayed some Brock parts at the show....but never even started with said parts. Nor does it have the parts on it now."
But if you read the email it certainly sounds like Gadson decided to use some Brock's BST and Tiwinder parts on his very own LSR bike. Certainly could be construed as a bit misleading because that is simply not the case. Jim could probably clarify this issue...but I don't believe that Brock is sponsoring the bike, nor is it going to be running any Tiwinder or BST parts on it.
At any rate, I wish Jim luck with the bike this year. He has certainly worked hard to develop it.

I think I sold some of the parts to Jim to get the ghost bike together... right on

Competition CNC is sponsoring and building the engines for Rickeys racing program for 2011.
He tested our head and cam package last year and picked up 36 hp and 9 mph in the 1/4 mile without the nitrous, over his previous cnc ported head and cam package. He only got a chance to make a couple of passes and the bike was spinning and lifting the front wheel bad so he never really got any clean passes with it last year.
Last year was a bad year for Rickey having spun 3 rod bearings and going threw 3 cranks in a dozen or so passes and then a wrist pin failure which resulted in a crash at Rockingham.
We were disappointed we never got to really see what our new head and cam package could really do last year so we reached an agreement that we will build his engines for this season. The Rockingham engine was completely destroyed so we started from scratch.
Luckily the Stage 3 head had little damage and was repairable It needed a few valves but it was surprisingly unhurt considering the carnage that happened below it.
The engine arrived at Rickey shop the weekend before the MiRock race on 5/1 but Rickey had some school bikes to prep for his drag racing school and was up until early morning hours for several days in a row. They finally got the engine in and fired it up Friday then loaded up and got to MIR just before midnight on Friday. They didn't even have any time to dyno the engine or tune it before leaving. Saturday AM at MIR they rolled it out into the staging lanes and made a qualifying pass. They found they had a crankcase breather issue and an electrical issue that they resolved and went back out and qualified. Without having any time to dyno the bike or run the bike down the track on Friday they were making passes and dialing the bike in during the eliminations on Sunday !!!! Talk about being pressed for time!!! There was NO time, they had to dial it in as the rounds progressed on.
Rickey did an awesome job under the gun and it shows how valuable his many years of experience are when it comes to crunch time. You can go to the MiRock web site and see the qualifying passes and the times in the eliminations on Sunday.
Needless to say that Rickey is extremely happy with this new engine combo and we both expect it to do very well this season once its dialed in.
This new engine and the engine in Competition CNC's Drag/LSR race bike were the reason we had the our new high volume oil pump gears made. We needed more oil flow volume with the looser clearances we run and didn't want to restrict oil from other places just to divert it to the crankshaft. So we worked with Robinson Industries to design and make a new gear.
This Real Street engine needs to live on the spray making 375+ crankshaft HP and even worse our LSR bike needs to sit at 12,000 RPM making 280+ HP for long periods of time.
Stay tuned!!

Jim and Rickey did a great job last year and I can't wait to make sure the LSR bike has all of the proper parts on it for 2011.
The Real Street bike DOES need to live... RG took out titanium exhaust parts with pieces of connecting rod last year?!
Sorry for any confused wording, I’m working with a new writer and I didn’t catch it myself - my fault.

Just to clarify, Competition CNC did not build any of Rickey Gadson's motors last year. He just put our Stage 3 CNC ported head and cam package on the engine he already had.
Here's a sneak peak at the new header we are going to be running on the engine this year.
This is a shot of it in the early stages of fit up. The exhaust valve is 30mm and the exhaust port flows over 70% of the intake flow. The larger diameter and shorter tuned length primary tubes will allow us to run cam timing more suitable for making power above 9,000 rpm. Its a 4 into 1 sidewinder design with a tuned collector and megaphone specific to this engines needs.
