It's the nut that holds your front sprocket on.

Doesn't this affect the "miles" you put on your bike as well as your tach and in turn my autoshift?

It won't affect your shifts since your autoshift should be going off of your coil wire and not your speedo signal.

what does grinding one side off do? Is there a magnet on each of the four sides that the sensor picks up on and when you grind one off then it reads different?

the speedo pick-up reads each of the 4 corners,
remove 1 it reads 25% lower, remove 2 it reads 50% lower doesn't affect rpms at all

Will this mess up the rpm on factory tach? Can I do this on stock bike?

halvefast said that it would not affect RPM's at all so I assume yes

Does not affect RPM's. This is only the speedometer pick-up. Will slow down the mileage readings on the odometer, which is a good thing when its time to sell it.

This may be a stupid question but here goes, has anyone shaved down all the corners on the nut? If so does it offer even better results? Yes I see where it was posted 1 corner and 2 corners but I want to know what is the effect of all 4 being done?

Strictly speaking, this doesn't "de-restrict" the bike, it raises the speed at which the bike is restricted.
With two lobes removed the bike can go 372mph before the restrictor cuts in.
If you want to go faster than that you'll have to buy a V-Max.
They don't have any lobes on the sprocket nut.
