Snowflake lock up and ZX14?

Anyone using a snowflake lock up in their Zx14?
Looking to see what you are launching at, how many grams are you using on the arms, basically general info. Thanks

It is but it has the second set of springs which makes it better. I used soft springs with a nut and bolt on every other arm.

I am using the soft springs, but why would I want a nut and bolt on every other arm? Will this be too much weight for the pressure plate?

Just as Big_T112 said that is correct, just no springs on the outside.
Big_T112, are you doing this on every other arm (I think this is what you mean)? Is this so you launch slowly?
Basically Im trying to see if I can use this in the 14 and be able to drop the clutch instead of sliding it and let the lockup do the work of "sliding" it for me off the line. Is it too much weight if I go with a nut and bolt (no washers) on every arm, will it lock up to quickly?

zxbob, that is the one, exactly! So it worked well for you? I like hearing that. I just put it in my bike and was wondering what type of weight, if any did you use? How is the launch using that? Are you able to drop the clutch, or still have to slide the clutch? How about launch rpm, what were you leaving at? Sorry to ask all the questions, just trying to get a baseline to start with before I make a virgin run with this setup. No one around here is using this setup. Any extra information would help!!!
Thanks

The lock-up in zxbobs picture is a standard mtc single stage unit, which is a very nice piece. We (jones performance cycles) used that exact lock-up in our bikes for the ama super-street class and it worked well 1.35-1.38 60fts. on 63 inch bikes. Your set up is going to depend on your gear ratio, rider weight, and power out put. Right out the box, with all the bolts/washers is great for a stock motor. I like to use fairly heavy static spring pressure with lighter weight on the arms to get more of a feel for the clutch out the gate (similar to a standard hand clutch), however, if you plan to throw it right out the gate, go with the lighter static spring pressure (stock springs) and moderate weight on the arms. Simply put the static spring pressure set-up is no different than your stock clutch, but when you add the arms of the lock-up into the equation things change. Once the ams are thrown out by centrifigal force, your clutch pack is now locked down. If this happens too rapidly you will spin the tire, or go into a wheelie. This is simply controlled by the amount of weight you put on the arms. Two stage lock-ups such as the gann unit in the other picture can offer a little more contol in the 330 range of the track by not allowing the arm to throw out as fast. But the single stage will still work fine. As a tuner I like to add static spring pressure up to the point where the bike will spin the tire out the gate, then back the static down to the sweet spot. However, if you are on poorly prepped tracks or don't have a good chassis/shock that generally will be too aggressive. Hope all of that helps, if not, shoot me an email with your specifics and I will try my best. Chris Jones (email: chrisjones352@bellsouth.net)
