Won't start! Need help.
Okay, I'm a Newb to this forum and a Newb to the ZX14. I just bought a wrecked 2008 ZX14 Special Edition the guy flipped it and it came out of the wreck surprisingly well cosmetically. Something is bent and I'm hoping that it is the rear subframe. But right now It won't start. It hadn't been started in over a year when I got it the gas was bad so I emptied the tank and put some new hitest in, got a new battery and all it'll do is spin and fire momentarily, no more than a burble. I've been working 18 hour days so I'm deferring to those of you who have more experience for some IDEA's on where to start this weekend when I get a few hours to troubleshoot.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Start with some basic stuff,like the tip over sensor,kick stand switch,etc.
Not seeing what was damaged limits where i would check first.

If any sensors are bad , you would have had an error code on the gauges after turning it over a few times.
you might try squirting some fuel into the throttle bodies to see if it is a fuel problem. but to do that you need to move the fuel tank over to the side and pull on if the covers off of the frame ... I would move the tank to the left side since the inlet air temp sensor is on the cover on that side.

No error codes. Would the thing turn over and act like it's going start if a sensor were bad?

yeah , the ecu just uses some default value... except for the crank sensor ,,,, motor wont fire without that, but it does throw a code.

Guess I'll try some starting fluid tomorrow and learn about all the sensors. I'm gonna have to tear apart the back half to figure out what's bent. hopefully it's only the rear subframe.

Does the fuel pump run for 3 seconds when you turn the switch on? Have you checked all the fuses? Tip over switch?

Yes the fuel pump runs and it'll almost start. It spins fine and hits like it's gonna start but all I get is a burble. got disgusted and turned the throttle while trying to start it and was rewarded with a backfire. Would I get the burble if the tip sensor were triggered? Would fouled plugs keep it from starting at all? When it hits it sounds good, but it is only for an instant. I read some of the manual. Not getting any codes.

sounds like the motor will fire whilst on the starter but not when its released so i would hazard a guess at the fuel pump relay or its switching......

Not sure if this will help, but, when my CBR got rear-ended, my ECU went bad shortly after. Sounded similar to what is happening with you. Tried a friend's ECU (mine-99, his-97) and it fired right up. ECUs dont like bad bumps. If you know someone local with a 14, maybe you can swap them and get piece of mind it isnt that. A bad ECU might give no faults?

I have a ecu you can try but i need it back' not for sale and your more then welcome to test it.
Its a known good one i rode the bike yesterday to test some knew ecu tuning we have been doing threw dynotronic's
LMK if you can't find one closer................

I would really appreciate that when I have time to work on it. At the moment I'm doing a little "Bench Racing" until I get these projects out at work. I ordered a clip[ on last night and hopefully I 'll find time to remove the plastic so I can get to the sensors and actually see what's bent. Saw a rear subframe for a Special Edition for $150 and one of those Chinese fairings that was black with red flames that would look real good with the special edition candy apple metallic frame and wheels. Meanwhile I've flogging the CBR extra hard in anticipation of the extra 100 ponies.
