- MIR 4-15-11 Streetbike Seminar (With Videos) - Friday a few of us went out to the Jason Miller Streetbike Seminar at MIR.
It was me, Dakota9498, Crotchrocket, and RedRacer (Racheal). We managed to get some video of a few passes.
First, the quickest of our bunch:
8.92@149.8. I am not 100% sure of Dakota's setup, but the bike is no lightweight. Obviously it runs strong, and he rides it well. I think that was a 1.40 60'?
Next, was Racheal. She ran a 9.12, into the morning headwind:
Pretty good, especially considering she tagged the limiter on the 1-2 shift. Her prior best was a 9.29, so a huge improvement for her. Too bad the only decent video I got was of her crashing a wheelie down:
Fortunately nothing touched down. She is getting more aggressive, but needs more seat time to get things working between her throttle and clutch hands. Still, surprising to see the bike go 9.36@149.5 on that pass.
Next up is me. The word "FAT" comes to mind. While her bike weighed in at a light 465, I weighed in at 255 lbs suited:
You can really hear the motor labor under me on the launch. I need more seat time, and a diet...ASAP!
Next was Rick (Crotchrocket) on the swb 14. This bike is running on pump, and honestly, hardly any setup. Rick doesn't like to change the bike much; he just focuses on getting the most out of whatever minimal setup he does have. The odds of seeing Rick's bike with an airshifter are less than the odds of seeing two lesbian sasquatches getting it on:
9.37@150.5. I keep telling rick he has more wheelbase left on the stock arm, ditch the stock filter, get a light battery, etc....but nope, he is stubborn. I have seen him run 9.20's on the bike as it sits, so I guess I don't blame him. I think Rick weighs about 170 unsuited?
Anyway, we all had a great time and went pretty quick all things considered. Good to see the regulars again, and good to meet Dakota9498.
For those who haven't, I suggest giving Jason's Streetbike Seminars a look:

hey dakota... that wasn't too shabby for being the slowest 14 at our track in san diego
Good job guys. Shane, you you don't need a diet... you just need to finish your motor and get your 14 back out there. Surely the extra hp can keep you in the 8's where you need to be lol.

Thanks for posting the vids. I had a great time and it was great meeting you, Rachael, and Crotchrocket. Hope to do it again sometime.
And I have to push Jason's seminars as well. Even if you think you know about the things that are covered, guaranteed you will learn something that you thought you already knew or had never thought of.
Here is the time slip from that run.

Thanks, I just wish you would have kept your bike sine you are headed out her as well. And thanks for the seat, it made big difference. I could concentrate on launching and not have to worry about sliding off of the seat. I had a few 1.39 60's yesterday.

Nah, not taking that bike motor to the strip this year most likely. I'm working on losing weight, and will be focused on riding my 1287 12R. If I get back down to 195 lbs like I was in 09, it may go into the 8's.

Glad it helped. I'm still waiting for a picture of it though... cough cough cough

That would have definitely been a 9.0X if she hadn't bumped the limiter. Not to even mention that awful headwind we were running into. I see her breaking into the 8's real soon.
Now I need to go out to the garage to console my bike because yours made her feel fat...lol Time for her to diet.

good to see you on the 14 again shane.
It is fun riding a stock motor 14. Too bad it is Racheal's, lol. I am going to do my best to not ride her bike anymore, now that I am trying to get the 12R ready.
Next time out I am thinking about riding her old 1000; I just need seat time. I also need to work on being more aggressive and sticking the clutch harder, and the 1000 is the perfect bike for that.

Yeah, I got a new spare clutch to install and a Brock's cushion and springs. This 1000 has eaten some clutches, especially with me riding it.
If I can find the time to prep it, I am going about 2-3" longer with the wb (whatever the extensions will go), and adding a few teeth of gear. It will sure need it.
The plus side is that the bike is only 425 lbs with a couple of gallons in it, and I can drop it another 15 lbs pretty easily. But I am working the next 11 of 12 days, 12 hour shifts, so not sure if I can get to it before the track day.
