turbo questions

Hey guys well since my bike is going to be down for a little while because I will be having shoulder surgery and buying/painting new pastic - I was wondering some info on Turboing my 14. I was wondering if anyone sells just the manifold. also wondering what all do I have to do to the internals to mae sure everything is on the safe side. I dont want to spend a ton of money on it but I also dont want to be a complete cheap skate on it either. I have looked around a little bit and cant seem to find anything on a step by step process. Like the Hayabusas does the 1400 have an Aluminum Airbox that replaces the existing one? The kits that I have seen do not show anything over top of the throttle bodies. Just wondering a few things and your help is appreciated

Buy shanes partial kit in the classifieds. It's the basis for my kit.

yes I am. I have never dug into a 1400 before. frankly this is my first KAW bike. I knew that my Busa had a plastic airbox so I thought that they would be the same way.

The frame is the airbox. No need for a plenum on the zx14, but you do have to block off all possible leaks. Buy shanes kit and you will be far better off the. Putting your own together from scratch.

if his kit was the one minus the turbo then it was sold. I was very excited when I seen it then WHAM I seen the word sold. I was heart broken lol. Anyone else make a header only? I have been looking with no success. Might just have to have one made custom, I had a guy quote me 600-800 to do the job but the hing is that he is only a fabricator/welder with no motorcycle experience. I figure that all he has to do it get all 4 cylinders to run into one collector smoothly. {shouldershrug}

I just bought the header from Muzzy. Ebay Chinesse copy of a garrett turbo. Make sure you weld or expoxy the big hole up by the steering neck. not really that hard but more work than doing a Busa.

You might not have your pressure plate seated correctly.

Actually I just called muzzy and it wasn't a bad price at all. Only 599 which is a lot cheaper than my 600-800 quote. And no wait time.

I drilled and tapped it. Then I put a bolt in it. It's the lowest spot in the air box, so that way if any oil or fluid accumulates, I can easily drain it.

I doubt he has any more partial kits left, but give Mark a call

got his number from the ebay ad where Shane and I both got our partial turbo kits, his number is...

(941) 286-8240

I think I got mine for $525 shipped.

Good luck!
