something to show engine temp eg. guage

Hey guys.

I was wondering what the best/easiest way to set up for example a guage to show my engine temp?

I don't like the bar style kawasaki put into the 14 and all my bikes have had actual temp eg. 82dg.

Also how would i get the info to send to the guage? A sensor?

Any ideas appreciated

Martin

Gonna have to use some tee fittings at the stock sensor location and add an aftermarket sensor. The bike probably uses the stock sensor for fuel injection etc. So it will have to remain. Myself I don't care about the readings as long as it doesn't have an overheat message. Somewhere in the archives here there is a breakdown of the bar equivelant temps.

Anybody want to find that. I hate looking at these bars wondering how hot this thing is.

Yeah I have read that post before, its helpful but still not what I'm looking for.

I think setting up a water temp guage will be easiest.

I purchased a guage yesterday its an saas guage and i also got it a nice black guage cup to "possibly" mount it in or i might cut a hole in the ram tube cover and sinstall it there along with an angled holder.

It's an electronic (not mechanical) guage and the sensor is a 1/8" fitting or a 1/4" option which just screws onto the 1/8" fitting to increase the size.

I was thinking to cut the radiator hose and insert a copper/allu pipe of the same dimensions in the hose and have a bung welded to the pipe to suit the sensor.... this is of course if there isnt a spot that i can allready use but i cant seem to see any sensors of such near the thermostat etc.

What do you guys think? Does anyone have a better idea?

i found a guy who makes hose adapters with 1/8" fitting for the sensor he has half a dozen sizes to chose from. does anyone know the size of the standard radiator hose (internal size).?

I just need this measurement and if anyone knows this or could easily check this id appreciate it, otherwise ill have to start pulling it apart when i just put it back together.

ThankYou!

Martin
