Removing rubber matt on motor

I'm pretty sure this will require removing a bunch of connectors mounted to engine top and also require removing throttle bodies if I want to remove the matt in one piece the way it went on. Before I undertake that, is there any easier way to take that thing off without destroying it?

Remove the throttle bodys ...remover the clean air hoses ... Remove the crank case vent tube to the frame and where it hooks to the engine breather cover .. There are a few wires that snake around the rubber mat that you can unplug .. I have a few extra mats if you just want to cut it off ...

Mats are there for Heat/Noise dampening. I just cut/ripped mine off, I will never put it back.

Thank you very much, Smokin-----I am am marking it down ....."Smokin has extra mats".... and I will check back with you at valve clearance check time. If it just seems like too much hassle over something that may never go back on the bike, I will take you up on that offer. I always keep OEM restoration in mind.

I'd rather let the heat out and my bike is too loud to worry about engine noise. The airbox matt was easy so that is gone.

Any thoughts about the mat's insulating effect as it regards fuel temp? Cool gas = more hp? yea or nay?

Remove it and then talk to me, trust me, it blocks some heat from you legs.

It would probably affect air temp more because of the frame/airbox. I put some reflective rubber backed stuff on the bottom of my airbox. Don't know how much it helped, but I hotlapped my bike upwards of 10 or 15 times with no noticeable drop in et or mph.
