Dallas Shop Recommendation?

Hi everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a new 2010 ZX 14. I'm interested in having a little bit of work done, and something a bit better than the stock tires. Can anyone recommend a good bike shop in the Metroplex? Where should I get my tires?

Thanks

I may be wrong but I don't think you will find a local shop that will match the internet prices on any tire that you choose. I personally prefer Metzlers. For work in general on your bike I would recommend Cycle Werkz in Ft. Worth!! Scott and Dave will take good care of you and the work will be done right!!

Hope this helps. Welcome to the Board you will find a wealth of helpful information and experienced advice!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I hate to have any significant work done without knowing something about the shop. I'm sure that you're right about Internet pricing of the tires. I've never done my own bike tires, but I might have to learn for this bike.

Grapevine Kawasaki had decent prices on tires and they mounted and balanced in about an hour for both tires. I forget the price to mount & balance but it was low enough that it wasn't worth my time to take the wheels off myself and take them in. Haven't had any other work done there but I was very pleased with the tire change.

Grapevine is actually fairly convenient for me, so I might give them a shot.

I'm thinking about doing full pipes and a Power Commander; nothing too radical until the warranty expires.

For your pipe and PC check around on here and psychobike for a used one. If you get a brocks you won't need a custom map. There are plenty of people on here from the DFW area that I'm sure you could get some help throwing it on so that you don't have to spend the coin at a shop and get ripped off. Someone who has never done one before can swap a pipe out and install a power commander in about 3 hours.
