I guess you'd need to know what the weight difference is and where, on the wheel, that occurs. If the excess mass is at the rim, then it could be substantial but if it's at the hub then, not so much.

Now as far as the suspension is concerned, that's a different story...

Tom

PS You can accomplish a lot with weighing tires...

There is a lot of focus on MOI since that Sport Rider article...but no matter what, if the wheels are lighter, you will be quicker. As mentioned, the tire weight is critical if MOI is your concern...since that weight is in the worst place, at the very outside.

I am considering MICHELIN Power Pure 120/60/17 front and shinko hook-up 190/50/17 or 180/55/17 rear for a 70" WB. Is there a lighter D.O.T.(streetable) combination that anyone would recommend?

PS: Shane, how much of a gap did you leave between your front wheel cowl and tire?

Do you mean between fender and tire? I used a Pilot Power 60 series and a low profile fender from catalyst...it is pretty tight...can take a pic tomorrow if you want.

Yes, between fender and tire. A picture would be great! How did you set it up (1/4" peaces of hose placed across the tire; then placed the fender on top of the hose and marked your drill points on the fender or what? Thanks for the help!
