Weight and 1/8 mile E/T.
How much weight do you think has to be reduce form a zx14 and/or rider to see a .1 sec. (or more) improvement in E/T at an 1/8 track? How did you reduce the weight?
Thanks,
BLK ICE

Not sure about the 1/8th mile...but 25-30 lbs is what I hear for .10 in the 1/4.
On my bike, it roughly broke down like this:
Weight Loss:
-----------------
Seat 5
Headlight 7.5
Battery 11
Front Wheel 5
Front brake 6
Front fender 1
Exhaust 30
Rear Wheel 10
Frame 2.5
End Weights 1.5
Gas Cap .5
Rear fender 1.5
Mirrors 2
Peg Hangers 2.5
Insulation/Damping 3
Tool Kit 2.5
Rear rotor 1
Sprocket 1
Total: 93.5 lbs
Then you have to add back around 10 lbs for heavier chain, swingarm, airshifter, etc.. I haven't weighed the bike in a while, and it doesn't have an engine in it now...but when I did, it was around 455 lbs with a couple gallons of gas in it. When all was said in done, the makeover of the bike and myself (I lost close to 30 lbs as well) shaved about .4 off of my 1/4 mile ET under similar conditions. About .1 of that could likely be attributed to a switch to MR9 fuel.

Shane thanks for the info. If you have time to check 1/8 mile changes between the tickets I would be greatfull.
Does anyone else know how weight reduction has effected thier 1/8 e/t?

Weight drop in the 1/8 mile doesn't do as much as you think. Learning to drop your 60' and 330' times goes much much futher. Seat time and chassie setup.

I went 5.98 best prior to the weight loss/bike changes/MR9...and 5.77 after. Wheelbase within .5" in in both cases.

Weight loss didn't get you to that 5.77. The extra power of the MR9 and learning to ride got you there. My bike is probably 10lbs heavier than it was a year or even 2 years ago not to mention that I've put on another 5 lbs. I just set a new personal best 2 weeks ago and I'm not done yet.

Well, I think that 80+ lbs. of overall weight loss between seasons helped a little.
You can't fight physics. Otherwise you would see fat guys in the winner's circle all the time.

To go from 5.80 ET two 5.70 ET you need to drop about 35 pounds, or gain 9 hp.

Weight loss from around the belly is free. Weight loss from the bike can get real expensive.

Wow I'm 250.I guess the lost weight of my Brocks pipe can't beat my aging process.I just like to eat too much! And having diabetes doesn't help.I only made about 20 passes in my life.1982 GS1100E 1982 GPz750 2003 Z-1000.The best time was 11.66@120 on the
Z-1000.I was fighting a wheelstand all the way through first and had to back off to get the wheel on the ground.Funny thing is I never got beaten on the street.I was 175 lbs then.I'm going to try it again this year.
