08 SE clear coated finally

Finally got the bodywork back and put it all back together. Feels good to have it looking like a bike again and off the lift. Now to ride the dang thing.
Pictures don't really show just how deep the shine is, but it looks fantastic. Just never got on with the dull finish from the factory. Also changed the end can to a nice carbon version.

Looks good clean looking . The flat look does look dirty and hazy at times if not very clean.

Looks very clean ...Nice one.
Was asking about having mine done with a local paint guy, he has a z12 highly modded and painted he wasnt so sure about clear coat. Does it chip badly , can you guys who have had it done give any info on that? I have 06 and 07 in meteor grey and the 07 needs a little paint on two panels ......what do ya reckon?

not sure what you mean by it chipping badly? If done right...it'll be just as good as OEM or better.

The only thing one needs to be aware of if you are doing an 08 SE is that the red is VERY thin. We actually bought a 1/2 pint of the red to add some thickness to the materiel. Otherwise, even a simple scuff with a scotchbright pad wore through it. Not sure what mamaKaw was thinking when they did that.

any major brand of professional paint system will be just fine if applied properly.

Thanks guys. Really stoked I got it back together and it came out great. My buddy that owns BD Cycles in Lancaster, SC is first rate. Give him a look and send him some business. You won't be disappointed.

I agree that is a major improvement, I never could understand why Kaw went with the dull flat black when majority of all there bikes have the clear coats to bring out there shine and paint schemes. Your bike looks very good now and it's good to that you kept the same paint scheme...

Thanks Smooth...I felt the same way. I've seen them with the flames removed and they just don't look right without them (both 07 and 08 SE).

Quarter that looks awesome! Huge improvement over the flat and almost as nice as the white SE!! I also think the flames look great even if they are stickers!

thanks....I love the white one too. Love how you blacked yours out but left the white bodywork. Nice contrast in colors.

I am planning on putting some black O.Z. wheels (5-spoke) on it and accent them with the red.

either way, it looks great.

I also tried that touring screen and found it didn't matter for me. Put the OEM flip-up from MRA back on and like it much better.
