I have a go pro not bad for the money the recharble batterys I bought dont last long in cold weather. But has worked out good. There are better cameras for the money. Think why go pro is favored is the water proof cover

You can't knock the quality.
The point I was trying to make was that for motorsports, framerate is more important than pixels. If the framerate
is reduced for HD recording surely the non HD version is great value. Especially when you consider how people view the results. Not on a 60" plasma, but more often on a laptop
or i-phone.
I have only filmed in HD mode and my films are perfectly smooth. The increased frame/second is great for slomo, I hear but I can't see that the HD mode lacks at all for catching action.
I will try one of the standard D modes soon to see if there is any dif. I suspect not unless you like to go full screen. I have a very high quality monitor because I bout the latest 27" iMac to do artwork. The HD vid I shot looks a bit rough even on this monitor and it is the SHIDZ as monitors go.
Sorry, did some shuffling on PhotoBucket so the old pics got lost here is the GoPro Motor sports suction cup mount once again.

I don't think I will use the suction cup, I couldn't see hanging $300 on the side of my bike by that.

Safety wire always a wise precaution. Never had it come close to coming loose....but you never know. 175 mph wind ain't gonna touch it.

Also............I have the option to "Scan the files for stabilization" after the import from camera. Stabilization removes distortion caused by motion. Id on't think that is something I want and I doubt it is very necessary. I went with stabilization on my last clips and could not tell the dif. Not real necessary unless perhaps you are filming while jogging?.....or you want your footage of a wipeout to look good?

Now if there were someone out there who could give me the same info. on the Contour or other camera systems that would be great.

I think the camera would give the same results with a different bike.
I'm hoping you don't think different cameras do better on different bikes.

I have a few bikes and right now I only have a camera system on one bike and that is hard wired to the bike so I would like to be able to move from bike to bike an plus the systems today are much better and lighter then 6 almost 7 years ago.

Ok, get extra of the stickie pads from go pro and your set. You can put it on as many bikes and as many places as you want

Far as I can tell, the overwhelming majority go with the GoPro. That GPS feature on the Contour is very cool. I may pick that up as my second cam if I find that the GPS is as reliable as any high quality GPS device. Spend $300 and have a cam + GPS sounds like a good deal. If you're going to need a GPS for speed runs one way or the other.
The key feature is probably the lens. The GP HD is equipped with a wide angle which will give the best overall results for shots of rider and bike or panoramic views. The standard lens on the old GoPro was not good for catching closeups of rider/bike/road. If the Contour has a wide angle lens, might be worth considering.
GoPro is prolly safest rout because that is evidently the way the crowd is going. Most stuff will be developed for the GoPro. I know how it is Black, you can think this stuff to death hours on end and then you might as well just buy both. LOL

Sounded like maybe the GP had some better mounts for what we do, though.
I wonder how long before someone wearing one of these puts a youtube video of them beating up their boss or something crazy like that. That'd be cool.

No prob, Black. I don't know that there is any definitive answer to which will be superior but that alone is a valuable piece of info. Get the one that looks coolest to you....lol.....and then get both if you're still not satisfied! That's what I did with my bikes.lol

I do not know if the Contour has adhesive mounts avalable like the GoPro does. If you are going to beat up your boss, you need to have one of those to mount cam to your helmet in case boss hits back. lol JK, of course.
