SPEED SHIFT
Smoother than ever at 58K . I speed shift even going slow now for daily driving. And She is shifting like butter. Bike is better for me to ride now than new. Did not seem that easy before . My 14 felt tight and took more effort dont know if the high miles smoothed it or the new clutch. Great shifting bike very happy with that the ZX 14 is a great high milage bike so far and feels strong as ever.

Mine also shifts better with miles(10,000+) I was told I would need an undercut trans. to spray but so far so good.

Mine's not bad either at over 10k, but took some finess on adjustment to get it that way -- fella I bought it from recommended an EVO shift star for positive engagement every time, but all i did was tinker with shifter placement and clutch freeplay -- still miss one occasionally, but usually due to me hangin' off the side
These trannie's are pretty mean and can withstand some true punishment as you drag racers already know

Exactly what is SPEED SHIFTING? Is it like power shifting? Please explain the process with hands and feet on clutch and gas on how this is done? Curious.
Sorry for lack of knowledge but interested.....

Speed shifting is simply shifting without the clutch.
The only time you use the clutch is to put the bike in gear or when stopped.
The technique is different at high speeds and low speeds.
High speeds like dragracing , you will have your foot apply pressure while you let off the throttle to shift.
Slow speed, you get the bike to the speed you want , keep pressure on the shifter , let of the gas a bit and shift and repeat for then next gears. To down shift it's more about finess. You must find the point at where the bike is not decelerating and then you can downshift. So when decelerating give the throttle a tiny but quick blip and while you have pressure on the shifter you can downshift.
All of this MUST be done smoothly or not done at all.

My point was how easy it has become on the ZX14. I am able to speed shift at a low RPM under 3000 and its smooth as butter . I dont know if to many do it daily riding. I have gottten into the habit of it and like it since it does it so easy.

So what is this technique called? I always thought this was speed shifting..
I just hold the throttle open through a quick as possible shift with the use of the clutch, I never get the chance to in the 1-2 shift, but after that I do most of the time in drag or roll on racing. It works well, I've used this style shifting all my life on atv's, dirtbikes, streetbikes.

I dont recomend down shifting without the clutch unless you are racing on a track and know what you are doing. Up speed shift for streetriding takes some getting use to and can become easy safe & fun.
