Bike low on mph. whats the problem
Finally made it to a quarter mile track last night. I had 08greenzx14 come out also. I did put the stock coil on and the bike is now squatting. Maybe alittle to much. I changed my gearing to 16/43 but brought my 46 rear also. The bike was only mph 140-146 with both of us riding it. Im 240 and 08green is 168. we were running 116-120 in the eighth but the back half was not there. The bike has the air filter in and running 89octane. Its not missing or knocking and we went from 28psi to 18psi in the rear tire. I know i need a new tire. The bike is running rich and im going to check the clutch, plugs and compression today. His mph was no better than mine and he is 80 less in weight and the gearing change really made no difference.

We ran about the same MPH in the 1/8, tells me im spinning, which i was. Black "sooty" exhaust and didnt really feel strong sound like a rich condition. Start pulling 3-5% fuel from your map each pass.

i do 116-120 and generally run 6.0 or 5.90s. The sixty foots werent there for sure. 08green runs faster than that in the eighth. I keep having the same times with different combination gearing. Pulled the plugs. They are Ash colored and blistered a bit.

Is this your 1st time to a 1/4 mile track. Normally I see a 28mph back half from 8th to 1/4. I'm not sure with others but that should give you something to look at...

The air is a big factor on mph as well. I've had days I could barely get 120, then I've ran 124 before in good weather.

DUDE, the only thing that will not cause a mph change with 80lbs worth of weight difference is that the clucth is slipping. There is no possible way that you weighing 240 and your buddy weighing 160 that there would not be a MPH variance. Yes the air plays a role but regardless you guys should have seen a big MPH difference. Were'nt you the one having major traction issues and I told you to check your clutch then too. Pull the clutch and mic it. Just trying to help and you are probably driving yourself crazy over something simple.

im sure ur correct. Its coming out as well. Im checking all of that so if there is a problem with it i will find it. The bike is squating know tho. U are right there should have been a big difference in 80 pounds.

I had the same problem during the heat of the summer - pulled out some fuel on top until the mph came back.

How long can a clutch last in that condition (where it hurts mph but it doesn't completely let go)???? I thought my mph was low all last year but I never changed my clutch because it wasn't slipping as far as I could tell. My max mph last year was 145, but most the time it was 142. What is a good clutch stack supposed to measure again?

The track maps never worked well for me on pump. I always got the best results with the street map.
