The aeros help but IMHO, that is not the end all and be all. There are impressive LSR runs on naked bikes. Personally, I would not feel comfortable at high speed on a naked bike.
Air has the consistency of molasses at 200mph. Look at the runs at Maxton that Bill Warner did. That is a perfect example. He did 255 unfaired, put stock hayabusa bodywork on and went 264, put the hand-made bodywork on and went 272. Aerodynamics plays a huge role in LSR, don't fool yourself.
Fixed.
Bill has been 246 naked at Maxton (255 at Texas with a tailwind). With stock bodywork (no tailsection) he went 259 at Maxton, just off the track record of 260 set by Lee Shierts in 2005 on Rich Yancy's bike. Then Shane Stubbs went 264 on a stock body Busa to take the track record, an amazing performance. 20 minutes later Bill put on his custom bodywork and went 272 right off the bat. He picked up 13 mph going from stock bodywork (with blocked off ramair inlets) to his bodywork. An incredible performance.
In August Bill went 273 at Loring (1.5 mile), coasting through the lights with a hurt motor. Last October he went 278.6 at the Texas Mile.
I am excited for Loring this year. If everything works, I think Bill will bump the bar wayyy up.

I forgot they were at different events, which the air quality/density could have had some to do with it, i was just stating difference in speed naked vs bodywork. Some people that don't race don't think that aerodynamics play a huge role in a motorcycle because of the size i guess.
