Stock oil pan plus and minus

Okay so I know the new Adams pan would be a great addition. And I just saw a new one fixing to hit the market. But the fact is I still ride my bike on the street and if you have one of those pans you're going to have to run a Sidewinder. Which are not so great for right-hand turn. Not that I'm a road racer but I just like that stock look. So for me that stock pan is a plus. But here some of the minuses! I run a manual oil pressure gauge on my bike if I'm rolling along about 20 mph in low gear and mail the throttle if the oil pressure gauges sit on 60 pounds it will drop to 20 and start fluttering as soon as I let off the throttle it jumps back up this a problem. It help a little bit by keeping the site glass full. You can make about 3 hp more by running the site glass on the bottom but I don't like what it does to my oil pressure gauge. The problem is obvious the G. forces when you pin the throttle is dumping oil out of the pan. This could be fixed with a windage tray. But if you stop oil from going one one-way you have to put a trap door in so it can get back in the pan. I don't have the ability to make such a pan but I wish somebody would. The stock oil pressure light on my 12 took about 3 pounds to put it out. And I don't think the 14 is much better. Kawi doesn't want your light come on when you stop at a red light. I like the manual gauge because it tells me a lot about my motor. So if any of you pan makers out there would care to tackle this problem some of us would be happy.

I agree, it would be nice to have an oil pan option that didn't require a sidewinder or turbo.

I like the added capacity of my Adams pan (6 quarts), but wish you didn't have to run a sidewinder in all non-turbo apps.

Shans, Do you have a manual oil gauge? If so did that fix the problem? I think someone could take a stock pan and added a extension on to the back of the hump say like a extra quart of oil and make a pickup that goes back into that area may be that and the extra quart of oil would stop it from losing oil pressure. I don't have a gauge...but the Adams pan has a trap door which should alleviate any unporting, when combined the tremendous extra capacity.

I'm looking at guages now, I don't think it would be a bad idea to have one as maybe you could catch a problem early. What kind of guage do you have?

only problem with adding to the back, if the bike is low it will just crack the pan since that will the the lowest point.

I have an oil pressure gauge on my bike and adams pan.. the pressure only goes up with RPM, there is never a drop.

and the factory pan does have a windage tray over the sump area.

I use a Automator gauge 0 to a 100 psi the model is Lunar part number 4121 $97 dollars. I also use a nitrous gauge on the other side of my key switch 0 to 1600 pounds part number 4128 $118 dollars
I use a gauge cup part number 2204 $16 dollars. This cup mounts to the shock tub with a hose clamp. Put some black electrical tape around the shock tub and clamp it down so that they face lines even with the top of your triple clamp or key switch I have the oil on the left side and a nitrous on the right side of my key switch if you go to Automator's website and put the part numbers in you can see the the cup and gauges. Now looking it up. On the right side of your motor under crank trigger pick up the main oil gallery comes through here. their is a Alan plug their it can be replaced with a 3/8 pipe plug with a eighth inch female in the center of it. use a eighth inch pipe 90° male with a AN3 for a number three nitrous line. Or I guess the easier thing to say its 8th inch pipe 90° for a nitrous line number three. Make sure that the 3/8 pipe plug is low profile because if it stacks out to four year plastic will not go back on. Turn the 90 towards the front wheel I use a number three nitrous line I think 4 foot long? Run the line up words along the top of the valve cover then over the top of the radiator up to the gauge. The gauge will be eighth inch pipe on it on the bottom of it. Use a female eighth inch coupler screw that to the gauge then screw a number three nitrous fitting into that then you are hooked up. I use the left running light on the front to hook the gauge light to
i went also to Home Depot to the electrical department and picked up some wiring harness cover 3/8 inch it keeps yours steel braided line from sawing hose in everything it touches. Hope that helps. Ken

If you add to the back of the pan and not lower it shouldn't be a problem my bike is pretty level in that spot. Of course any time you run a stock pan you're taking a chance of hitting it. It's one of those catch 22 deals.

Yes but it doesn't seem to work very well
