zx 14 cutting off in mid pass need help

hey guys just wanted to run something by some fresh minds.

took the bike to the track yesterday, ran some decent passes but the bike looses power in the middle of my passes, gauge cluster will zero out like the bike just cuts off and clutch out and wheel speed will start it back up and continue on?????

sounds like a voltage issue to me but, just wondering what you guys think. bike has a mini controller, msd and a wideband along with an air shifter and shift light pulling on the factory charging system. battery is a busa fast by gast but has some age on it.

anyone encounter this problem please chime in open to all suggestions.

I have encountered the same problem most recently at the Mojave Mile. Engine cuts out at WOT then comes back strong a couple seconds later.

Mine has been in the salts many times and I thought I might have a corroded line somewhere. Still haven't found the problem yet-- I was using Mr9 and Mr11 and thought a dirty fuel system might have caused the problem but I recently replaced the fuel filter and problem is still there-- Engine only cuts out at WOT-

Do you use an after market teather type safe kill switch, if so start the bike wingle the hell out of teather to see if bike is shutting down then back on.

+1 . . A few af my buddies had that problem on their Busa and it did turned out to be a little switch or something near the kickstand.

Yes he said he has MSD on his bike ..I know of two people that have had problems with their MSD.. I have no clue why you think you need an MSD on a zx14 but to each his own ..ZX14s just don't have these kind of problems till you start adding needless crap ..
Start with removing the mods you have made one at a time till it stops having problems .. That is pretty simple is it not ?

I have not heard of one single ZX14 with a kickstand switch problem , Busas yes , zx14s no ..

the gauges resetting sound like a voltage problem... bad news is that it could be anywhere from the battery to the ground. here is the electrical path to the gauges

17. Frame Ground 1
18. Water-proof Joint 1
19. Ignition Fuse 10 A (in Fuse Box 2)
20. ECU Fuse 15 A (in Fuse Box 2)
21. Ignition Switch
22. Main Fuse 30 A
23. Battery 12 V 14 Ah
24. Frame Ground 2
25. Engine Ground

I am guessing that the gauges loosing power did not kill the ignition , but the problem is affecting both the gauges and the ECU . check the components that are common to both

battery , grounds , ignition switch and fuse holders/wiring
