Just my .02 cents worth here, but I love slipper clutches in just about every bike I ride. I can't ride track without one.
On a sport tourer with the wife on the back, the slipper provides a gradual engine braking keeping her from sliding up on me. I'm good with the front brake too, but coming off tracks all day long and grabbing handfulls of front brakes in canyons on roads that I'm unsure of doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy.
I like to spread the braking around a bit ... lil bit front ... lil bit engine.

My last new Kawi was a Z1 with a 1300cc kit on it. Yeah, I'm an old fart!
Right now I have a '94 HD Dyna Convertible, which is great to just putt around on, but I'm wanting something that has some real guts.
My new bike will be either a 2010 14 SE or '11 Ducati 1198 SP. I'm really leaning towards the 14 for the reliability & lack of continuous maintenance, the much more reasonable price and the better ergos. I'll (probably) never see a track with either of them, so that's a moot point. I just want one more really super-high performance, classy ride while I can still enjoy it.

Cool.............I loved the old Z1's and H2 2 strokes.......I was too young to ride one when they were popular but I loved em all the same!!!
You'll love the ZX 14 its an awesome all purpose bike great for sport touring, the dragstrip, commuting to work or buzzing through town...............I love my 14 but I'd like a cruiser like a Gen 2 VMAX to go with it eventually.

I rode one of the 750 2-strokes a couple of times back in the day. They were called "widowmakers" back then. Kick-ass fun to ride though.
Yeah, I'm really getting to the point of pulling the trigger on a 14. Best bang for the buck in every way for me. I could actually buy two of them for what the Duc would cost now that the rebates and discounts for the 2010 Kawis have kicked in.

I'll have to differ with you there. From what I've seen, many of the ZX14 riders have little or no experience at all. If you have the money, you can go into any dealership and buy a ZX14 or busa right off of the showroom floor.... no experience required. That is exactly what most of those Vest wearing, parking lot riders do. They only have bikes like the Busa or ZX14 so they can say "I'm cool!", but they have no experience or skills whatsoever. Most of them end up crashing and raising our insurance rates anyways!
As far as "Sport Touring" is concerned.... The word "SPORT" means just that..... Sport riding. If you are a drag racer with a lowered and stretched ZX14. More power to you and no slipper clutch is required. It just wouldn't make sense, but if you are a "Sport" touring rider that rides long distances and it involves a few canyon roads along the way, a slipper clutch is a great thing. ZX14s approach corners just as fast as Liter bikes, so why would they not benefit from having a slipper clutch... just like a ZX10, GSXR1000, etc..?
