its all Lab3's fault

After seeing the pictures of Lab3's tail light with the nite shades applied i went for it on my turn signal covers.Bad move on my part, because thete are factory imperfections in the lenses that show up when the paint is applied. The question is where can i purchas a front euro tint signal covers as well as tinted rears and a tail light so they all match? I have found signal covers at a place called Lucky Bike-accessoriesvery reasonably priced, but they dont appear to have a tailight to match, and i would be scared to mix and match vendors because i scared the tint wouldn't match. Help me out since Lab3 got me in a pinch and now i have Neas approval to make this purchase since we cant take the bike to The Dragon on our honeymoon with mismatched lenses. hee hee. Special thanks to my friend Lewis Bartay for putting me in this spot. ; )

That is funny! I did the same thing on my rear tail light and it is badly pitted now.

here is what i am running but i have the green lenses instead. I am very happy with how they turned out for me...

everything is clear alternative brand. fitment and everything turned out perfect. The tail light has the integrated signal option but you dont have to hook that part up if you dont want to. I did and it actually looks pretty good.

The Clear Alternatives stuff is nice, but pricey. I was hoping for some nice knock-off lenses in the 100 plus range. I will do what's necessary to fix this issue even if its more expensive than I like.

Clear Alternatives has the best fitment and quality -- had their LED integrated tail lamp in my YZF -- really cleaned up the tail as I didn't need ANY turn sigs with the red/amber alternating between brake/turn........very trick product!!

There's some flush LED turns offered for the 14, but I personally haven't seen any sort of blockoffs...........you may be able to modify a race tail to run a tail lamp without turns -- or pull yours and fill the turn holes in then prep and repaint?

Th1rt3en are the clear alternative lights a direct plug in or do you have to splice wires to install the tail and front lights. Thanks Peyton

I guess several of us got lucky. None of our plastic lens have pitted or any problem. We used several very light coats of the tint and waited several hours after each coat. And the next day used the clear coat.
Tint the rear turn signal lens at the same time so they match.

What did you guys use to clean the lens before you used the Night Shades??

I used brake cleaner Louis. The signals have hair line cracks in them and they stand outbadly when the nite shades is applied.

The clear alternative lights are a direct plug in. The fronts i recieved had a different pig tail on the new sockets so i just used my origianl sockets. That aspect is the exact same.
The integrated signal part of the tail light is one wire you splice into the turn signals if you choose to do so. I did it very eazy and just put a spade connector on it for easy removal.

It turns out the sockets that were on the green fronts fit the old 636 models. A buddy of mine wanted my clear fronts and the pig tails were a direct fit for his... So that was a good thing...

Found an intresting twist to this thread today. Look ad d2moto.com and search zx14 smoked tail light. Appears identical to Clear Alternatives tail light, but the 39.99 price is sweet.

Beware.. the light your referring to is made by Volar. The light is made with led's that are not very bright at all. i have seen this light in person and personally it sucks (you get what you pay for). there is a local guy who is selling alot of the stuff off his 14 and this light is one of them. he only wants 20 bucks for it though. My main concern for a dim tail light is a jackass not paying close attention behind me at a stop. The last thing i wanna do is take a car up the tail pipe..... if you know what i mean....

ill send you a PM with the info...

I saw someone's signature a few days ago and it was soooo very true.. it said something like.. "Good parts aint cheap & Cheap parts aint good"

I friend has one. his is a LED and Bright maybe different compamy. We noticed it needed extra sealer where the lens fits into the case so we added a bead around it. It works great been on his 14 for a year.

There are more smaller leds lights in it that the O.E.M. but it is as bright as stock. I will look for the box as we installed in my shop. He thought for 40bucks he would try it.
