Lowering Foot pegs?......
I know many people have switched to the Buell foot pegs to give a bit of added clearance for them selves. But has anyone ever tried the "Cycle Pirates" 360 Degree foot pegs? I will be getting a set of them today for my b-day and going to install them. I am just curious on thoughts and any feed back if anyone else has used them. A local shop i go to often told me about them and that was the first time i had ever heard of the brand name. Supposedly with the 360 Degree aspect you can drop the pegs down about an inch maybe just a tad more, or any place you desire really... what do you think?
i frequently shop at indysuperbikes.com and that is where i found them.

I think that you should consider footpegs that hinge upwards if you're going to lower them.

These hinge the same way the stock pegs do. and they supposedly are able to re-use the factory tension spring to keep them down and in place.

How tall are you guys? Im the avg 5'10" but i think the stock pegs are too far low. Id actually thought of raising mine up with some aftermarket adjustable units. I been sort of hesitant because i really like the rubber isolated stockers which transmit no vibrations.

For touring and commuting they are great. I have the Buells and 1 1/4" risers. Much better.
Dont worry about them getting in the way, I still had the lower pegs on this day

Ok well a bit of a review for these...
Install took roughly 30 minutes. Things were very easy. The new pegs are almost an inch & 1/2 lower and feel great.
The downfalls.....
I adjusted the brake lever and shifter levers to compensate for the lower peg position.
The problem is now my foot is roughly 1/2 an inch further away from the bike (the thickness of the little lowering block). Now I need the shifter peg and the brake peg to be 1/2 an inch longer as well. Since they are not; If I want to have the entire pad for the rear brake covered I have to ride pigeon toed. And that is very uncomfortable! Currently in a normal riding position only about a 1/4 of an inch is covered on the shifter peg and the rear brake pad.
I am currently looking into some adjustable brake and shifter levers to compensate this issue.
On a side note... How is this with the Buell pegs? Has anyone run into this issue before?

Silvbult, don't think that little strip of rubber makes a difference in vibration. I went from stock pegs to GP werkes pegs and now I use the Sato rearsets and I never noticed any difference in vibration from the stock pegs.

same issues with the buell pegs. I had the buells and hated them. Yanked off after 2 days. I bought a set of lowering pegs from Murphskits.com that go on a concours 14. They are much better and super comfortable. Direct swap in about 10 minutes.
Twistedthrottle.com has some pegs that seem to have a lot less outward offset than anything I have seen...just never seen in person before. Those come with option of different length of lowering.

Thanks for the info Quarter Pounder.. im looking into a few different options..
Also last night i took off the lowering block and mounted the pegs in the stock location. I am going to be leaving them there until i figure out the loering aspect. As of right now i have noticed no difference in vibration feel coming from the pegs. I still feel minimal vibrations there. I am going on a longer ride today and i will update with the results...

I got the buell's on mine, only problem I had was the kickstand deploy was in the way -- but luckily, the member I bought them from here included a modded stand with that removed.
I like them ( after getting the controls adjusted just right ) for day to day street riding -- but for track days, I'd definitely swap back to the stockers and re-adjust the controls..........can't keep my feet in position all the time and it is a bit of an issue when I'm full lean and need to up/down shift or trailbrake

I noticed that with the Buells too. That was a short session during a race day. If I was on my toes it was sketchy so rode flat footed and toe plates got mucho wear!
But I like them on the street and touring. Touch toes on the road too, but use that as a reminder to chill as I'm on the road......,hehehe.

I'm usually always on the balls of my feet, but I wasn't at the track when I was trying these out -- I've got a nice little circuit of fresh asphalt mapped just outside of town here that allows me to "lightly" test-n-tune changes I make to suspension, gearing, controls, tires, etc. before I load up and drive all the way out to the track........scary stuff touching your toes to the ground when you're in a deep lean -- my cousin broke some toes when his foot caught and got dragged under the peg.........damn near ran over his own leg!
But of course, his dumbass was wearing sneakers instead of decent boots.
Those SBK adjustables look sweet though, and appear fairly easy to adjust compared to rearsets

since i found the relocation brackets for the factory rear sets i will never suggest to anyone to buy the cycle pirates pegs. Big waste of money in my opinion, and too many mods needed to ride comfortably.

Murph's Peg Lowering Kit
Quarter Pounder -- Murph's peg lowering kit for Concours 14 was a simple bolt on substitute for the stock pegs on your ZX-14? Any mods needed for gear or brake levers? Thanks. KC

Take the rubbers off the stock pegs, grind or file down the raised peak at the outer edge of peg, locate some old bar grips, cut the grips to fit in the recess, epoxy glue in place and or, use two per peg allan head bolts through the original holes...
Hey presto, pegs are lowered by approximately 3/4" and for me are much more comfortable.
Easily returned to stock if you wish.....
