EBC HH front brake pads

I put on the EBC pads and find these thing LOUD when the brake is applied. I have 500 miles on them now and they stop OK but can be heard by a partner on his bike beside me. Is anybody else using these? How do you like them?

I had those same pads & after 1000 miles my rigors were shot! I put the oem pads back on & everything is back to normal

There is a paste you can apply to the backs of the pads, it will help reduce squeal/resonance.

Very common issue, and you can get the paste at Autozone.

Nothing wrong with OEM pads, especially when you're smashin' them against OEM rotors.
I had Galfer everything around my Yamaha, and that thing would stop on a dime and give ya change back -- but longevity was an issue at track days once I was comfy enough to really drive deep into the turns.
What's stock on these bikes anyway?

EBC HH <--when you're wanting max stopping power and shortest stopping distance they blow stockers away.

I'm assuming they were making "noise" due to the fact they're a more metallic compound then? My Galfers were noisy until you heat 'em up, then they weren't too bad -- but then again I wasn't street riding that bike either.........can't always hear the problem at the track

Love them! Worked even better than the OEM pads.

I used EBC HH pads on my ZX12 from about 600 miles, because the OEM pads (and probably the calipers) were rubbish. The HH pads ate the OEm discs in about 25,000 miles and they had to be junked. I fitted EBC discs as replacements and they lasted for a further 47,000 miles and were still ok when I sold it. Disc wear is something to be aware of on the OEM discs and none OEM pads.

I've run EBC HH pads on every bike I owned for over twenty years with no problems & marked improvement in braking. Two of the bikes ran way over 100k miles & never had to replace the rotors. Can't imagine how you wear out the rotors so fast unless they were just shit metal to begin with. No pad I've ever tried would stop as well as EBC HH's do. If they made noise I just ignored it because they work so well. You can try beveling the leading edge to eliminate noise along with the goo on the back(which I don't like in case it runs onto the rotors or pads).

Why replace the rotors? Are they grooved or warped or just worn down out of spec?

If they're wearing thin there should be a lip on the outer edge that stands out from the pad track on the rotor and the same lip inside( ie the pad track on the rotor is a groove} as the pads don't cover the entire surface of the rotor. Usually if they are worn the pads catch on the lip as you try to remove the caliper. Of course that won't matter if they're warped.

Just swapped in some new EBC HH sintered pads, and immediately noticed more initial "bite" and reduced stopping distances under heavy braking.

Bedded-in the new pads with about 20 medium speed stops and 10 high speed panic stops. Never actually came to a complete stop, and allowed cooling off time between stops. Swear I could feel the front tire locking up and skidding with the new pads.

I am running OE rotors, with about 12,000 miles.
