Need to know!!!

ok I just bought a wrecked zx14 the owner wrecked it while drunk and lost the key. How do I hot wire it? Just want to verify it runs, mileage and then I'll be listing alot of the parts in the for sale section. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you for real? You want someone to post online how to steal our bikes. Buy a new ignition switch & plug it in.

I assume you're having a laugh with that reply. You'll possibly get the steering lock off but that's all.

It won't work because the ECU needs a correctly encoded key to be inserted in the ignition before the bike will fire up. A real owner should still have the Red master key which came with the bike.

Pontiacpassion, yours may be an honest query but no owner in their right mind would post, on an open forum, information on how to hotwire the 14, even if it were possible.

I know this isnt zx-10r.net but there are threads on how to do this on there that I have seen in the past. After searching around I got the same answer given by you on the ECU. So the answer of hot wiring does float on the web quite a bit. That's why I invested in the state of the art S&M alarm system. I bought the bike for the sole purpose of the 240 swing arm the rest Im parting out , just figured it would sale quicker if they knew mileage and all that jazz.

only the connie has the factory immobilizer, the zx14 doesnt have one in the states.

its just like stealing a car, but easier. hell if you kick the handlebars hard enough while sitting on the seat it will brake the lock so you can move the bars around freely.

please tell me your kidding... How hard would it be to get the dealerhship to get you a key? A week? $40? I know that's not a problem because you just purchased a whole bike for the wide tire kit... Good luck.

OK, Just a question...
If you purchased the bike for the swing arm does that mean you have another one sitting around?

What i would do in your case is simply unplug the ignition switch from a perfectly good running bike and swap them. Just swap them long enough to get the necessary info you need, Then tear down the wrecked bike.

I am sure if you have a buddy around that has a 14 he may loan you his lock and key if you hook him up with a few spare parts from the wrecked bike. I know i would at least entertain the idea as long as i knew the person.
