Tech Question #3 plug won't fire 06 ZX14

Riding bike, All of sudden bike starts to miss & run on 3 cylinders, Raw fuel smoke starting coming out of exhaust. So far I have changed the plug, The coil, All other coils were tested & they all fired, No fire will come from #3 coil. Traced wiring all the way back to computer to make sure there was no pinched wiring or anything since I had just completed engine swap, Could not find anything. Anyone ever encountered a situation were one plug won't fire.

i'd bet its either a bad connection plug-in or a broken wire

get the volt meter out and make sure that the coil has 12 volts to it . If that checks out ,, ohm the ground wire from the coil connector to the ECU .

Thanks guys, Its Fixed thanks to OSR from Psychobike. He told me he had a busa do the samething on the #3 cylinder. He told me they tried everything including changing throttle bodies & everthing else, Turned out to be the pwr cmdr went bad, Told me to unplug it. I unplug it & #3 cylinder started firing & bike runs fine.

Wow that's something good to know.
I haven't had that happen yet.
Usually when I get a bike in my shop that has a cylinder or more not firing , it's usually plugs, coils or wiring that's bad.
Never had a PC cause a cylinder to drop.

Thru the years i have had a few failures of Power Commanders and Ignition modules. The types of failures range from intermittent poor running, dropping cylinders, a/f mixtures going rich, outright failures where the engine quits running, and more. As many PC's as i have sold/installed i would say the percenatge of failures is low enuff to be acceptable.
When a customer's skoot has a running problem the first thing i look for (besides a fail code)is a PC and ignition module, and if it has either than they are what we start our diagnostic process with.
We currently have a 2007 CBR1000 that had a very intermittent running problem, so intermittent that while in my shop it would not repeat itself. We experienced the failure when he brought the skoot in the last time, it was running poorly when it arrived, then magically fixed itself the whole time in my shop. After hearing how it was running we removed the ignition module last week and sent him out to ride the skoot. We are awaiting a call from the customer to find out how much riding has has been able to do and if the problem has been eliminated.
