Bike vs car if on the same race track The link is to a German race track called Nurburgring. It has various distances the most is over 17miles long.
My question is that i always wondered if a car could be faster than a bike on a race track.
Then i found out that Bikes race on different tracks to Cars - DOH!
This 8+minute clip shows an amazing car driver doing a lap. He's good. The squealing of tires means he's really pushing it!
But (as per the post), he is easily overtaking motor bikes.
I have no date as to the vid (low quality). I can only make out one 'sports' bike personally, and he gives way easily.
I would have put my money on a Gixer, Busa, ZX14 - properly ridden - to be faster than a car on a race track.
What do you think?
Does anyone have any vids of a car and bike going head to head on the same race track?

Of course it depends on the circuit, the car and the bike, there will always be exceptions to the rule but generally cars are faster than bikes on a circuit.
The extreme example, the new Silverstone circuit in England, 5.89 kilometres or 3.66 miles:-
In Formula 1, Fernando Alonso, Ferrari, 1min 30.874 seconds on 11th July 2010 = outright lap record.
In World Superbikes 2010 at the same track: Superpole 2 was won by Cal Crutchlow, Yamaha R1, with a best lap of 2 min 4.377 seconds.
In Moto GP 2010, same track, Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha, best lap 2 mins 3.526 seconds.
Looks at the statistics for any circuit which allows race cars and race bikes, the cars are normally faster.
Cars are quicker than bikes at the Nurburgring (Nordschleif) too but enjoy this lap on an R1 by Helmut Dahne anyway.
The bike speedo is in kph by the way.
Enough said.

Lap times don't lie, but i've seen a video years ago with an Italian supercar ( can't remember make/model ) vs. a Ducati on a road course -- it was damn near a tie, but the bike barely beat out the car.
What matters more than power, is who is driving/riding the machines and their skills on the course.......However, cars can cheat by drifting corners and keep their speed up a bit more -- I would think that bikes tend to bleed off speed if they drift a corner

I think I've seen this same video, but I thought the car won by a small margin.
The bikes out accelerate the cars and make time on the straights, but the bikes lose out big time in the braking and the corner speed to the cars.

Street car vs a street bike...bike will make it VERY close. Race car vs race bike...car will spank the bike.

Yes, there was one done by MotocycleUSA with a Ducati 999 vss Lambo Super leggera. And ive seen one i think TopGear might of done, with a Lambo vss a Ducati 1098S. The bike won both competitions but not in the braking dept. The car was catching up in the turns (better corning speed) but the bike gets away again out of the corners and acceleration.

Yep, I've seen several clips of bikes and cars. The main one ya'll are speaking of is the Lambo Gallardo vs. the Ducati 999. If you google Ducati 999, it should come up on the first page under video. The thing is, that Lambo is their top of the line, but the Ducati is not a 999R. The Ducati still wins. The Lambo costs about 10 times the amount of the bike as well. I'm pretty sure that a MotoGp bike will beat anything out there except an F1 car. Those things are out of this world.

Obba,
The Nurburgring is actually really bumpy for a race track, and there are very few places to fuck up safetly on it - if you want to see something really funny google search "Sabine Scmitt top gear transit van"
This woman is a "ring" master and passes lads on sports bikes.........while driving a deisel transit van.

That doesn't look like a F 14 and I didn't see any afterburners on. I get to see F 15s take off sometimes they do what they call a gate climb I believe. What it amounts to is a full afterburner take off roll then they pull up the gear and continue to fly just above the runway until they are going very fast not sure of the speed but its quick then they pull up and go straight up for about a mile or whatever. Seen it up close and must say its very impressive I don't think a bike can touch it. Talk about shake rattle and roll.

At my local tracks though in a 1000 cc vs anything on 4 wheels- liter bike all day long!
Look at the lap times, there are about a million videos of evrything possible on any track.
