09 zx14 turbo??

I recently put a Garrett Dual ball bearing, GT2854 turbo. A/R is .63 hot side, 80 cold side turbo on my 14, It is set up for 7 1/2 psi of boost,  the fuel system 255lph HP external pump, rising rate pressure regulator, and billet fuel rail. This is my first turbo, is this too much boost for a stock motor? I haven't got on the boost yet just putnn around till I get it dyno tuned

First if you run it flat out for a while you will get some boost creep that could torch your pistons when it leans out. On mine I just ran Avaition 100 Octane that I could get at the airport for $3.25 gal. when I knew I was going to be beating on it. I would not go any higher on the boost. what ratio is your requlator 6:1 ?

Ok cool, Regulator is a standard rising rate 1:1 regulator.

what size injectors with 1:1 regulator?

stock injectors, more than 7 psi , 1:1 asking for trouble.
you will need more injector

zxbob pulled ~5 degrees timing at 7 + psi on pump fuel, up to 10 psi stock pistons
His was the only turbo I have heard surviving more than 5 psi for more than 10 K miles on stock motor

Damn'it, ok thanks for the info, any suggestion on the size injectors I should get? But I should B ok to dyno it if I retard the ignition right? Or should I wait till I get injectors?

Can I order from any where a 5lb waste gate spring/rod for this unit and if so where. Some one told me I could cut the waste gate rod weld some threads on it so I could adjust it but don't really no how long to leangthin it

I would say you will need both.
The timing pulled to prevent detonation with the compression ratio
More injector to control air fuel ratio.

I would start saving money for another means of primary transportation.

Turbo bikes aren't known to be the most reliable.
The ammount of air they move through the motor doesn't allow for much error in your tune or the reliablilty if your fuel system.

I wouldn't push the stock zx14 pistons beyond 8 psi if you want them to live. The ring land gets hot, and dissapears....lol

the bosch 750 injectors would take you to 350 hp and 14 psi pretty easily from the calculations I have made .

here is a link for injector sizing:
http://www.rceng.com/technical.aspx?UserID=6081430&SessionID=zwVvx{gbd2WPR9pndr49

oh and tune for approx 11.5- 12:1 afr, use c-12 or comparable good fuel while having it tuned.
Its cheap insurance ( not a guarantee) incase a mistake is made on the dyno

in summary the best advice I can offer, is leave it at 7 psi, pull the timing with sb6 or comparable, use the 725 injectors, and get it tuned.

Probabaly garret.

I would put an external gate on it, so you have real control. those internal gates are junk.
If your motor isn't built to handle in excess of 10 psi and it creeps to 12 everytime you load the motor eventually it will kill your pistons.

I am making conservative suggestions than some might offer, but they should keep your motor alive.

also, have you done the valve springs?
the rpm limiter is a progressive fuel cut in the zx14, so kleep it off the rev limiter, or have the ecu reflashed to cut fuel 100%, as progressive fuel cut will melt pistons when afr goes skyhigh

The 725cc injectors will take you WELL over 400hp on gas my STOCK mtor made 330 for about 3500 miles and 250ish hp for about 4000 miles the most improtant part of your build is a fuel system build it for 500hp and call it a day my bike was set up to run E85 and it made some nasty power for a stock motor 330hp on 12psi NO timing was pulled and I beat that bike every time I got on it

agreed with everything said here.

must emphasize...no timing pulled on E85 is the key here....

playing with fire, more than 7 psi , stock compression, stock timing on PUMP gasoline.

Ok I'm going to stay on the safe side for knaw until I get some money for bigger injectors, I orderd a Turbonetics Dual port wastegate actuator that I can adjust from 4-watever pound of boost the turbo can handle, I'm going to just set it on 4lb and have some fun until I can purchase other items lol, do u think I should still back the ignition a little bit on 4lb Boost & stock everything and high octane pump gas?

you should be safe with that without pulling timing, as long as the fuel is good.
If you hear or feel it detonate, back out the throttle immediately

I've been told that stock timing is safe on a stock motor at 8lbs of boost if I ran VP100 octane street legal race fuel, or a high quality octane booster with premium pump and didn't do long pulls......sound true?

Bob, I've got a couple questions for you....

so what's the key? 7 psi is safe pump with timing pulled? I thought anything over 6 was a no-no....

Any thoughts on this???
http://www.schnitzracingstore.com/catalogs/catalog.asp?prodid=5032336&showprevnext=1

Also, Bob, did you run 20w50 or 10w40? I believe you're a redline guy right???

Did you run stock valve springs?

Do you recommend a larger oil pan with larger oil capacity? I don't know if I should use the adams boxed pan or stick with the stock pan....

As Lyle said - I was running 7 to 8 psi on pump gas. All I did was install a Schnitz EFIR
which I understand they dont sell anymore. I bought an adjustable momentary pressure
switch on ebay and set it at 5 psi.

I ran a rubber hose off the intake to the pressure and the yellow wire off the EFIR to
the pressure switch. 5psi would activate the switch pulling timing out of the motor.

It was very easy and very safe - my motor was all stock except for the clutch, I had to
run a lock up. As for the oil, all I've ever ran in any of my bikes is Red Line 10W40

Bob, so it was -7 degrees at 5 psi then?

The sb6 would be the new way to do it.

MJ, do you trust what the gas station sells you? Octane booster is only good for a few points generally, and by professionals not open for consideration.

There are so many variables, and the quality of your fuel is of utmost importance.

I would still tune it appropriatly for pump fuel as discribed, unless you run a specific race fuel.

i have no faith in pump, any boosted bike car i have again will be on e85 or c16 im tired of running with everything turned down and parts still breaking when its on pump and a safe tune, the fuel is the most important part of any build

Meangrenn14,

Dont make the same mistake I made which was getting it on the dyno with a 1:1 regulator and stock injectors as you will be wasting your money since you will have to re-map completely when you get the bigger injectors and end up paying double the dyno fee's!

I'm running 690cc injectors with 1:1 rising rate regulator and and 8 PSI boost supercharged with Sunoco 109 octane GT plus fuel.

If you can easily get hold of E85 then I would go for that with all its benefits.
