Gauge cluster or front fairing buzz??
Been noticing a buzzing coming from around my gauge cluster or somewhere in the front fairing, but can't isolate where it's coming from as the tuckpoint behind my double bubble really reverberates tones and noise from the engine and exhaust........it only happens between 3500 and 4200 rpm and just cant find what's causing this.
When the bikes running static, I can't really recreate the problem unless I'm on it and moving between these rpm's.........I've taken most everything apart around there except for the cluster itself, and REALLY dont want to split it open if I can avoid it.
Anyone have a similar experience or notice anything like this with their 14?
Mine's an '08 with Brocks SMeg and I've got my PC3 strapped to the snorkel under the left ram air cover -- already started there and eliminated that as an option, all is tight and nothing is rubbing anywhere.........can't hear it nearly as much with my helmet on, but there's days when I'm puttin' around town that I'm without a helmet -- and it's driving me nuts.
Anybody got any ideas?

Mine has a buzzing sound every now and again. My '99 zx9r had the same buzz. Just blew it off as a Kawasaki quirk.

I'd understand some noise if she was an older cable driven speedo setup, but this one is all digital.........I don't know, guess I'll keep stripping her down and checkin' every bolt

Do you hear it around 4k rpms? It is probably just the tip over sensor. Mine does it as well.

yeah, right around 4k......but it starts rattling around 3500 up to 4200
if it's the sensor, there's nothing I can do for that is there?

You can tighten it down a little more. Mine was loose the first time I took my windshield ff.

wonder if it's coming from inside the sensor or how it's mounted?? I could probably isolate it with some foam rubber if it's coming loose, but if it's internal is there a way to bypass and discard it?

If you do a search there has been a few threads on this subject. I tried putting a couple extra rubber washers on it and it still does it. I'm use to it now so it doesn't bother me.

you can get to it by removing your windscreen. You'll see it rubber mounted. Square thingie...I put a ziptie around mine and it helped a little.

Yep kawasaki calls it vehicle down sensor. mine made the same noise so i took my windshield off and investigated. i checked to make sure it even worked ( incase it was rattling because it was broken), but it worked fine so i put the windshield back on and forgot about it.

My tip over sensor rattled to, I did not want to wrap it in foam or tape so I removed it, popped the top off and filled 1/3 of the way with motor oil. There is a pendulum inside there that rattles around. The oil dampens it, Its has worked for 20,000 miles now.

I wrapped mine in foam tape but the final cure was to just jam a piece of cardboard between the sensor and the bracket.
Cured the buzzing!

back in 2006 , I used a rubber washer to lengthen the stack under bolt, the washer or bolt was bushed too long, allowing it to vibrate excessively
