Pickup the wifes' bike next week!!

My wife got her endorsement via Honda's 3-day beginner safety course last year, as I took the 5 hour advanced course for a decent little insurance break myself.........
Well her Dad finally got the Goldwing he's been drooling over since the new 1800's hit the market, and now he's got his '98 800 Intruder up for grabs.........so next weekend we're heading
to Tennessee to let her test ride it for fit and see if she wants it.........was hoping to get her into a 250 Ninja, but he's only hitting us for $1000 on this one and it's a "pay me whenever", interest free situation -- hard to pass up.
I know the seat height should be ok for her as it's less than 30 inches -- my wife's 5'0" on a tall day, so it should be a decent starter bike for her.........800 V-twins don't have a whole bunch of power when there's a chromoly steel frame, tins, and tank holdin' it down -- so I'm assuming she'll be fine to adjust.
Anybody ever have experience with these bikes? Any particular problems I should be aware of before commiting to buy?

I've heard great things about them and the looks of the bike reminds me of a smaller version of the V-max/Frazer(80's-early 90's version)

actually, that little 800 has some decent zip to it. Very torquey and geared for good pick up.

Still a cruiser though.

I know, and may be a better learner for her so one day when she steps up to a sportbike - she can truly understand the difference in handling/braking characteristics..........friend of mine's got a lowered ZX6 with shaved seat he'd setup for his woman, and wants to sell it but my wife still can't plant both feet when she's on it -- so figured that's not a possibility.........which sucks since it's same color scheme as my 14 and it's only got 1500 miles on it.........could've had twins in the garage!!! But i'll do whats best for her

When my wife completed her MSF course I started her on an EX-500 which
was a great bike. (to start on)

She was riding quite a bit and the 500 was soon under powered. So I put her
on my ZRX 1200 which lasted only a few months more . . . then she wanted more.

Now on her 1400 she's happy - and has to be cause there's nothing else.

I guess what im saying is buy a bike that fits her phyisicaly and she can grow into
and not out of. Beth ended up doing 3 bikes in a years time !

That's the overall plan, she can adapt to the 800's power........just had to get her on something that she'll feel comfy with at a stop too........the Honda course here uses CR230F supermoto bikes -- used to have 250 rebels, but they sold those off and went with the lighter motards.........I remember her bike had about 5 or 6 inches of fork tube above the top clamp and the rear spring was all the way out so they bike would drop to her level once she'd climb on it..........she did great though, never dropped it or dumped it -- other than a few typical stalls in the beginning, she did awesome..........
Thanks for all the insight fellas, we leave thursday night and be back saturday........let you all know how it goes
