working on my next set of warped rotors

I just replaced my front rotors in january and I feel the wigglies coming on again! I checked my pads and they need replacing. I was going to go with EBC HH. I dont do a buck forty and clamp em on or ride them at all. I find I use front/rear evenly for most stops. they release just fine and aren't hot ever. Any ideas??

If you ever haul the bike it might be the rotors making contact with the wheel chock, the carriers will bend easily.

That's strange. I stop with one rotor from 149 mph over and over, I've never had to replace brakes. Granted this one is ony a year old.

My rotors are all discolored and have 10K miles on the second set of pads no warpage. Seem to remember someone saying something about another problem that feels like warped rotors. Have you had them checked for runout to verify warpage? Perhaps sticking caliper? Have the pads worn evenly?

Going from high speed to a dead stop with heavy braking can cause the rotors to warp. You end up with a super-hot spot right under the pads while the rest of the rotor cools at a different rate, this is what warps them.

I got new tires and (straight used) rotors in January. No unusually hard braking either. 1 pad was worn more than the others I noticed this last weekend. I haven't checked for runout.

Check your rotor isolators and make sure none are bent or popped outta place -- I pranged a rotor on a bike i used to have and it bent 2 of the isolators ( rings that mount the rotor disc to rotor hub ) and it never spun true again, even after replacing the isolators

aftermarket rotors will better withstand the heat from extreme braking on sweet EBC "HH" pads.

hmm interesting, ive had my rotors contact the wheel chock on many many many occasions..almost everytime i go to the track. and no problems at all.

improper tighenting sequence when they were installed could warp them. i know this can happen with car rotors easily

Obviously:

A) The rotors are not warped. or-

B) Something with your setup, riding style, or perception, is causing this problem.

I run a single rotor, and have braked from up to 211 mph wihout issue. My pads are about done, but other than that, no issues. This issue you are having is not a known common problem with the ZX-14.

If you don't check the rotors for runout, don't call them warped. Anyway, that's my .02.

Check the runout on the rotor that had the pad worn more than the others. That one likely has an issue.

I lived with my warped rotors My Red 14 had that happened around 20,000 miles. I straightened them out a few times and they were ok but never perfect.
Around 40k I swapped out the rotors with some off a bike that had 15k miles on them. They started to have a pulsation in the brake lever duing light brake applications after a while. I let it go cause it was fine everywhere else. I checked the pads one time around 45k I think and one pad was worn almost completely. The rest we're more than half life!
So I checked that caliper and the pistons to see if they were sticking, they weren't.
Checked the runout on that rotor and it had one spot that was bent. So I got my big cresent wrench out and slowly worked the bend out.
She's got almost 64k on her now and there hasn't been anymore brake issues

haha, kwaka! That's good. I looked at my pads and I don't have much left on the front. Where's the cheapest place to get pads?

Ebay has a set (both sides) for $50. EBC FA417/4HH from mryamaha2010. Just put them on yesterday. Killer price, less than half of what I paid for the last set. I may have to buy a 2nd set for reserve.
