Throttlemeister install

Just purchased a set of Throttlemeisters to reduce the vibrations and give my right hand some relief on longer rides. I have a some nice aluminum ones that I love the looks, but they hurt my comfort on any ride longer than an hour.

I haven't tried to install yet, but how many shims did most of you use when installing yours on the 14?

Hi slates. I've got the throttlemeisters on my ride. As Quarter Pounder said, you just keep adding shims of various thickness until you get to the point where the throttle releases freely when it's released, and it only takes a small turn to lock on. I think I have 1 thick shim and one thin one on mine. Don't forget the plastic insert that goes inside the end of the throttle tube. Hope you got the heavy ones. That's what I got and they work extremely well with very little vibration..

Another easy trick is to just loosen the throttle assembly and slide it over until it's just right. There is not set amount of shims to use. It all depends on where your throttle tube is locked down at on the bars.

I was amazed at how simple it was to install on the Connie14

find the sweet spot with the shims allowing you to adjust the throttle while in locked down mode but still holding the position when your hand isn't on it

big help on long trip. Any thing you can do that will allow you to relax your body or move around and be comfortable is priceless. This just allows you to relax your throttle hand and yes, you can tell on long trips.

+2 Throttle lock, bar risers and a good DB screen are worth their weight in gold on long trips.

+1 Also you can have enough shims installed so that when the Throttlemeisters are in the fully locked position, the throttle is just locked on. I have mine set so that only a minimal turn is required to lock the throttle. I can play with it to get a soft lock, so that you can still adjust the throttle by hand if needed, or locked on hard. That's a personal choice.

I've been using them on the last 4 bikes I owned. Priceless on long jaunts. You can convert them to other bilkes easily also with the shims.
