Finally........

I am finally putting some performance mods on my 2007 ZX14.
Other than lowering it 1" in the rear, tt has been basically bone stock since I bought it.
I ordered a Oriental Express Racing hi-mounted exhaust, with PC3 & K&N air filter.
It was a package deal, I believe the pipe is built & designed by Sato Racing.
I'm also having the flies removed, finally!

I also decided to get a new chain & sprockets.
I'm looking to keep the front sprocket at 17, and go up just one in the rear.
I'm looking for just a little more pull at the low end.
My question is would that be a good combo for the perf-mods that I'm adding, or should I just keep it at the stock gearing?

Btw-I don't race, I ride real mellow, well, most of the time........

For street riding, I would keep the stock rear sprocket and put on a 16 tooth front. That was really fun on the street, and I didn't notice any loss in mpg. And yes, the high mount is made by Sato. Post up some pics!

Thanks.
After looking at different possibilities on this website: http://www.gearingcommander.com/ ;
I think I'm going to go down to 16/40 ratio.
Thanks!

I'm running 17/42 on the street & like it better than stock. Even though it's not too much lower gearing I still find myself looking for one more gear sometimes when cruising the highway. It definately pulls better than stock and when on the gas it works great. Also it works with the stock chain length.

16/41 was a blast on the street, but if you drag race at all it's a bitch at swb once you add the pipe. Plus it's pretty much impossible not to ride like a complete hooligan all the time with that gearing lol :P

I'm running 17/46 which is basically the same as 16/41 or close enough anyway.......it does pull damn hard low to mid and I find I'm shifting more often.........used to cruise thru town in 2nd at 3k -- now it's more like 5k.........mileage isn't too hateful on the pipelines either -- got a 75 mile round trip commute daily and still average in low 40's when I'm trying to behave

16/43 with a stock chain. Kawasaki Zephyr 16 front and a black Driven 43 steel rear. 4000RPM at 70MPH in 6th. 180 top end :-) 60 in 2nd gear and hit, front tire WILL pull...... :-)
6th gear roll on's ROCK............ BIG difference from stock. Stock WB street ride only...so far.
Waiting on extended warranty to run out.

17\43 is a really good street setup that does everything well. The added sweetness with this is when you look at the 10 percent the speedo is off from the factory combined with the gear change it just about equalls the removal of one corner of the speed sensor.

+1 then all my friends on their 14's did the same. I went 16/43 and I walk off from them 60 in 2nd and go thru gears. 6th gear roll on's same thing...see ya. Best performace gain for the $$ is gearing. I have the new model speedo healer that holds 2 sets of #'s. 180 GPS in 6th now
with 16/43.... fast enough for me on the street.

Here's the rest of the mods that I'm adding,
HealTech SpeedoHealer
HealTech GIPRO/ATRE
FactoryPro Superflare Velocity Stacks
and removing the flies, finally!

Thanks for all of the input, and I've decided to go to a 17/42, and then, after awhile, I'm going to move down to a 16/40.
All of this, and coupled w/ the OER exhaust & PC3, I think it will be a noticeable change in power and acceleration.

Again thanks, all of the feedback was greatly appreciated.

16/40 is not much different from 17/42 -1 on front is like about + 2 1/2 on rear.

Yes, I know.
Gearing Commander is great website!
Going from the stock 17/41 to a 16/40 would more of be a noticeable change, than just going to the 17/42.
So when I step down to a 16/40 from a 17/42 won't be such a big step.
Thanks.
