Bently I have a 16oz bottle underneath I believe and I put about 120psi in it and after I make a pass my guage is usually at 100 -105psi And I just hit the compressor to refill to the 120 mark and go at it again.... Not sure if that answers your question

I'm not sure if a smaller bottle would hold or have enough pressure to push the solenoid and cylinder..

Ondre was telling about the problems with the CO2, and I was thinking about going and buying a regulator from Matt on Sunday... Some guys were showing me that they are using braided lines from the regulator to the solenoid.... Looked pretty bullet proof and like a solid setup..

I use nitrogen and no regulator is needed. The only expense was the Nitrogen bottle and the regulator on the bottle. I get roughly 6 months worth of shifts out of a $15 nitrogen refill. I used a 1 pound bottle and got roughly 12 shifts.

Do you ever get any leaks (o-rings going bad)...

Nelson up to this year I would have said my set-up was bullet proof and this year every time I go to the track I have issues.

Can you give us a link to the nitorgen bottle and regulator you are using? I'm interested in this.

No,
I bought a Helium bottle off of Craigslist and traded in at Praxair for a Nitrogen bottle. I believe they are they same thing but just labeled differently. I paid $50 for the bottle and then bought the regulator from Praxair for $120.00. Any gas supplier should point you in the right direction on the purchase. Email me your contact info and I will send you a picture of my setup. aquinochad at ymail dot com.

Get a one pound N20 bottle and regulator .. Full it with co2 or n20 ... I use n20 because i can get it filled anywhere and it only 3 bucks a pound ...

Or a one pound non dot bottle from MRE and get a 9 dollar pump from Wallyworld and gut it and install it in the tail ...

Heres a picture Bently, I really like this setup because it is pretty failsafe however the shifter needs to be refilled after every other pass. It does away with an onboard compressor which are known to fail and it can also be ran with no gauge on the bike because the refulator on the N2O bottle can do it for you.

I really like the c02 setup, it does leak a little bit but I get so many passes out of the bottle and as long as I turn the bottle off at the end of the night I dont loose that much, beats having a compressor

Thats my setup real simple and inexpensive.... I dont mind replacing a 9 dollar compressor.... And I havent had to replace mine yet, 4 years. I do keep it lubed and the gear free of any rubbing.

I have the same nitrogen set-up as Chad, only a larger bottle. Lasts about 3/4 of a year or more, and my buddy is a welder and fills it for free. Just top off the pressure after each pass. My air tank is built into my swingarm, and can get 2 passes easy with 125-130 psi, but still top it off after every pass.

Never owned an on board compressor. As nice and convenient as that may be, I've seen way too many times where the compressor failed, or the compressor was left on by accident and busted the gauge or the tubing, and seen often where the compressor would kill the bike battery over time.

compressor with this little baby inline

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/120-PSI-Air-Pressure-Switch-Train-Horn-Compressor-/220575174343?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item335b4e0ec7

This 12 volt DC switch will cut a compressor in at 90 psi, and switches off at 120 psi
