I can't see sh*t with Low beams on

Is this normal? When I ride with low beams on only the two small outside lights are on and I can't see anything while riding. I have to use my brights. Should the two big lights on the inside be on when using low beams?

Well the fuse was fine. The two center lights come on when bike is running but you can't see anything with just those on. I have to turn my brights on to see anything. Is this a problem for anyone else?

Havent changed it since then but it sounds great and runs like a champ. Drove into work today. Left 5 minutes later than usual. I thought I was gonna be late cause I'm usually at work 3-5 minutes before it starts and I ended up 10 minutes early. I usually drive my car. Cuts down on the driving time significantly on the 14.

My 14 low beams are adjusted too low to. I need to look in the service manual and see how to adjust them up a little. Glad to know the engine is running OK.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. They got the things pointing to the ground.

Anyone ever adjust the low beams?

Yeah, takes a 10mm socket best I remember. I think you take off the ram air duct covers to expose the adjustment screws.

Yea I agree, the low beams alone are dangerous at night!!!!! I was considering a set of HID but I understand there is no way to adjust the beams once installed.

Really? Why is that? Do the HID's do away with the factory buckets/adjusters? All I did was swap the factory bulbs out for higher wattage bright whites -- gave me another 30 to 40 foot visibility both hi and low........cheap too!

Correct. Looks like about 3 full turns on the vertical adjustment bolt raised the low beam to a normal pattern that does not blind on coming traffic on low beam. Ride it with the ram air covers off so you can make final adjustments. This may differ from one bike to the next. Rider weight will make a difference as well as how you have your forks set. 2-44 in Service manual shows the vertical and horizontal adjusters.

In Europe they don't allow HID's on a vehicle unless the beam height is self levelling and headlamp cleaning is fitted.

This for the comfort and safety of everyone else on the road. They also don't allow HID type bulbs in headlamp units designed for halogen bulbs as the beam pattern is not correct. Has the USA got road vehicle lighting regulations?

The projector type headlamps on the 14 work very well when properly adjusted.

That is the same laws here in the states however its rarely enforced unless the cop really wants to be a ass or you're running around with ridiculous headlight aiming and or light color way beyond normal like 8-12k kelvin.

As for the OP, maybe your headlight wires are crossed somewhere? The inner and outer lights should come on if you flip your highs on. I notice you said tiny lights, are you referring to the small parking lamp?

No, the HID still allow full headlight adjustments, it works the same way as a normal bulb, only difference is it has a ballast attached to it. I have 55Watt DDM units and I will never ride without it, beam pattern and brightness is superb. Ill try to take a night pic later on to show its light pattern and brightness.

Hey Lab - found the history on my buddies ebay account but the seller is no more........they were "xenon gas super white bulbs" ( simulated HID ) with 55/60 watt draw and 85/100 watt equivalent output........they're still available at roughly $20/pair from UK with free shipping

Its better to just real HID for a little more money. In all my years of playing with stupid light bulbs from maybe 20 diff brands none of them really have any increased lumens (light output) in fact most of them just change light color but looks dimmer then the stock shit. The closest halogen based bulb that was semi worth it was the Silverstars but they don't last worth a shit.
