Top Speed
If a PCV, Dynojet Autotune, BMC Air filter, Muzzy M14 full exhaust, Vortex 41' read sprocket, and are added to a 2009 with the stock gearing...what can I expect for top speed?
I have read numerous printouts and I believe that the 2009 top speed is 179...(seems a bit low to me) and I know that they're limited to 186 but I just want to know what I can look at for top speed. We have LOTS of 2 - 2.5 mile roads here and unfortunately we do a bit of top speed racing so it's good to know if the bike will indeed pull past the stock top speed or not.

It seems to come out at an electronically measured 179, or similar, on 17/41 gearing because the standard bike is restricted to 186 (300KPH) and the speedo over-reads by four or five percent.
A stock 14 de-restricted should be capable of 190 or more, depending on conditions.

stock speedo is off by 10%... BTW, stock gearing is 17/41 so you've still got stock gearing.
Weight and aerodynamics play huge part in top speed. If you're a giant then don't expect to be setting any new land speed records.

Here is what we have found, this info is on a stock bike with stock tires.
On the dyno, a restricted 14 hits the speed limiter @ 185 mph. On the road the skoot hits the speed ristrictor at 185 mph on gps. This 1 mph difference is usually what we see when we compare the dyno's speedometer (which dynojet says is accurate to 1/10 of a mph) to gps.
A de-restricted 14 shuts down my dyno (which occurs at 199 mph) before the skoot hits the rev limiter. Doing the math the 14 could reach 201-202 mph at the rev limiter. It would take more than stock h.p. to hit the rev limiter in top gear. The highest gps reading i saw on my 2006 was 190 mph in our 9/10's races down here, that's 190 mph in 9/10's of a mile. That skoot made 163 h.p. at that time.

So the Ivans TRE will allow a bike with full exhaust and BMC filter to go faster than that ghastly 179?

Mine went 191 when it was still totally stock with just a Speedo Healer.
I'm talking accurate electronic timing here, not speedo.

Where did you pick up your speedo healer?
I'm thinking of getting the Bonneville Box from Muzzy if I remember correctly it's supposed to send a signal to the bike telling it a lower speed AND it's supposed to send the accurate speed to the speedo.
I'm still a bit confused about the 179 thing. If the bike is speed limited to 186 and will go faster de-restricted...why in the heck does the thing only go 179? I've seen that other year ZX-14 have a higher top speed out of the box. You'd think that they'd all go 186 box stock...why the variance?

Are you a Big Man over 200 pounds like me? Are you in a high altitude area? Are you sure your map is at 100% TP??? I have a heal tech Speedo healer that stores two different settings and a pig tail button to change so i can have the speedo accurate for every day use. And a second setting so I can run top end.....before I changed gearing to 16/43. Stock the speedo is not accurate from factory.... have you changed to a 55 series rear tire?.

He He....Now those are million dollar questions!! I am a fairly large person...280 without gear...most likely 295 geared up! I live in Alaska...not very far over sea level considering the fact that' it's right there next to us...Anchorage is a fairly coastal city. I still have the stock tire on the back...I am thinking of switching to the 200/50/17 though. So the Heal Tech speedo healer is switchable hunh? i may have to go to that.

The 179 thing? This could be electronically timed speed, or sat-nav speed, which is true speed. The speedo may be round to 186 and the limiter operating but then the speedo over-reads - hence a true 179. Remember too that there are quoted top speeds from guys who road ride and also top speeds from guys who use tracks for the standing mile. It's not always comparing like with like.
I got my Speedo Healer from an importer in the UK. I think the Bonneville box is possibly better now but wasn't available then. With the Healer you just dial in a massive under-read and then ignore the speedo, track only of course.
