ZX 14 fuel tank venting ???

I'm new to the forum but not new to bikes. I recently sold my '05 Busa and bought an '08 14. I have owned a lot of bikes over the years but the 14 tops my list on the "gotta haves". I have read the threads about the gas cap making noise after a hot days ride, however, when I ride my bike to work and leave it parked in the sun, it spits a small amount of fuel out a vent tube below the idle adjuster down by the kickstand. The fuel leaves an oily spot on the ground. When you touch the spot it feels oily but smells like gas. Has anyone else experienced this issue? The tank is not topped off and the shift shaft and countershaft seals are dry as a bone. It is definately coming out of the right side vent tube. Is this normal? Any thoughts? I give my Hog buddies crap for their bikes leaking and now I have a wizzing Kaw.

this happens to my 09 ME too. i think this is just your fuel expanding under the hot temp. only happens when when i park it in the sun never in my garage. prolly just some safety thing to keep the bad boy from blowing up :-D

There used to be a thread where you could cut off a coil or 2 and it would stop the whistling.

Yeah, mine doesn't do it in the garage either just after riding it and parking it in the sun. Sounds like something ya' gotta live with. Hey atidude, I noticed your a "parking attendant" too! I guess the forum gods assign that title. Do we get paid by the hour or is it "tips" only?

Haha i think its a Kawi thing, i have a friend that has a 08 250R and it does the same thing where it makes a wheezing noise through the keyhole, and my 92 ZX6 and ZX14 did the same thing. None of my bikes ever peed out gas though, that sounds like a problem.

It is a Kawi thing. My 01 ZX-6R liked to whistle too, as does my 07 14.

My 1986 FJ1200 does the same for 20 years, just like my 14. It depends on how the tank is vented.
