Attempted theft My ZX14 and Z1000

Oh well couple of Dumb asses tried to steal my 14 and the wife's z1000 they really fracked the ignition switch on the Z1000 tried a screw driver to force it , started on the 14 but only marked it up , Z1000 goes in tomorrow to icbc for repair what I was wondering is there some kind of security to stop this Other then a shop or place to park it , was thinking like a cap you could screw on over the Lock ??

They sell a cycle garage that covers entire bike you can lock. Maybe an alarm. I just installed a gorilla 8017. Glad they failed and little damage to your bikes.

Tried to get 2 for 1 huh? wow! You slowed them down some how if you still have them... good deal. I think this can't be explored enough. disc lock is small. lojack might help. I've thought of the cheap harbor freight battery powered motion detector planted somewhere so you get a chance to load the clip chains and cables are bulky while traveling. A nice thing might be a shifter lock down so the bike doesn't roll right up into their truck- bastards. Ignition cut-off switch? Full coverage insurance is in order.

I had someone try to steal my 14 in tucson with my disk lock on it. It broke the front fender and warped the rotor, but the noise stopped them from taking it. I had just pulled it out of my hotel room on my cross country trip from texas to san diego and went back inside for 10 minutes. When I heard the pop I ran outside to see them jump in their truck and speed off. I was so sick that i almost cried when I saw the front fender was broken. Funny thing is that I've never replaced it lol. It seems like everytime I've had money something else has been a priority.

I've not seen any ignition cover thingie to protect it. Best bet is to anchor it to a solid item and use an immobiliser.
Glad you got both of them still...

Must of been a rookie, the ones that actually know what they are doing just carry that shit away into a van and don't bother with the lock at all. I wonder how many guys it would take to lift a 14 into a van. That shit would prolly give you a hernia. lol

You could always wire up a cheap prepaid boost mobile phone with GPS on, so if it does get jacked you can track it where it is.

All this talk about arsenals is going to do zero good if you don't know they are stealing your bike. More likely then not you wont run into the guy stealing your bike, he will simply take it when you're not paying attention. IE Sleeping or parked outside a store, etc.

That's the way i think of mine, i mean obviously im not going to make it easy to steal because its a hassle for me to deal with but im not going to lose sleep over it thinking someone will come and steal it. If someone wants it, they will take it regardless "security" measure you may have.

Ok, here's a full proof way to gaurd your baby...1) get a dog, preferably a Doberman or PIt to alert you 2) Smith and Wesson 500 magnum and 3) make sure your State has a make my day law! I had 1 stolen years but gaurantee that's not gonna happen again! Oh and make sure you keep full coverage insurance if you're a bad shot and miss the perp and hit the 14.

If you shoot the perp I hope you kill him, dead man don't tell no tales. Here in Cali I'm pretty sure there is some law that will land your ass in jail for shooting someone simply because they ate trying to steal your bike unless that person is endangering you.
