Welocme........... 17/41 is stock gearing. After the stock chain has stretched 17/43 will go on. If you want
more a 16/43 is still OK for street. Use a Kawasaki Zephyr 16 front it has the material on each side of the sprocket so all is quiet.
Secondary flies( in intake) removed with a good map on 06/07 is a plus. 08 and newer are programmed to open sooner but most here remove them too.

first off welcome!
Gearing depends on what your going to do with the bike. Weight also plays a big factor in how much you regear. Are you going to stretch it?how long?
Most of the guys like -1 front and stock gearing for stock wheel base.
Try the search button for common questions, there are tons of threads on removing the flies

-1 in the front produces better seat of the pants but it's a little harder to get the counter bolt off without impact or breaker bar. don't put the pressure on the tranny to loosen. rear brake or 2x4 in the wheel/swingarm. the rear sprocket is a cinch to change. 1 tooth at a time is barely noticeable IMO. go straight to 43 from 41. flies is a holy shit ass puckerer (buy a power commander FIRST)

After experimenting with gearing for top speed I ended up going the other way, one tooth down on the rear to 17/40.
(If you go to 43 on the rear you ought to at least replace the chain or preferably extend the swing arm to maintain wheelbase. Remember also that without speedo correction when it indicates 100 you'll not be doing 90)
My bike still picks the wheel up, if that's what you want, still gets into the "nines" in a quarter, tops a true 200mph without running out of gears, gives a tad more wheelbase on the standard chain instead of less and is great on the road.

I run 16/41 on the street and 16/44 at the track. Stretched 7 1/2 inches and lowered 3 inches for the track too. I put it back stock length for the street. Takes about 2 hours to swap it around.
