Finally got to the strip. Mixed results

Soo i finally got to the local 1/8th track with my "new" setup. 65" wheelbase. -1+2 gear, bmc, brocks yadda yadda. Well my first run pretty much set the bar for the whole night. 7.3132 @ 110!! i got REAALLY squirly out of the hole, being how i havent ran the bike for about a year almost. then the times started to drop.

2nd pass. 6.8098 and my damn airshifter gauge popped and hit me in the helmet!! (talk about luck right???) so being how that was toast, i had to resort to foot shifting, something ive never been that great at.

3rd pass-6.617 @ 111mph. 1.68 60' babying it but getting used to it

4th pass i obviously worked up more courage...or something with a 6.408@112. and 1.56 60' Not sure why im trapping so slow. i guess it was still all about the 60' times

to keep this all short, the rest of the night i was running between 6.45 and 6.5s and topped off the night with a best of 6.35@112-1.538 60'

Had a buddy tape so i can see my mistakes and it sounded like i was REALLLY not wanting to let go of that clutch out the gate. i guess i was just trying to not go TOO wild my first time down. Oh if it helps im about 175lbs. Anyone got any pointers?? Ive been racing for awhile maybe some rust caked up over the winter!!

No worries! I recently stretched my bike, and I'm kinda in the same boat as you. I can't get it out of the hole very quickly, and I'm still searching for more mph. So far with my limited experience on teh stretched bike, I've gone 9.56@142. I believe that was a 1.56 60' and 6.2 1/8@ 117.... Very similar mods to you. I found that the bike has a lot of torque, and I believe that is the key to launching well. I've been watching a lot of videos, and you'll notice that the fast 1000s hold a high rpm until the clutch is all the way out. From watching smokins and shanes videos, they get the clutch our very quickly. The 14s rpms actually drop quite a bit, but the torque pulls it well. I am still working on this, as I only go about 80-90% throttle out of the hole, and the clutch gets out quick, but I'm bogging too much. I've gone low 1.5s, but my 330 sucks.

Good luck and let us know how much you improve in the future.

Add more gearing, and you won't have to ride the clutch nearly as long.

i'd luv some 1.5x, lol, but like u if my 60' is good my 330 sucks as well, n i think that is cause i'm not pinning that throttle wide open, as for sixsix, r u short shifting, seems like ur mph should be higher, especially being at 175lb

i was thinking the same thing...i dont have an aftermarket shift light so i honestly get tunnel vision and blank out when i race. i have my factory shift light set to BLINK at me when i get up in the revs. and i was foot shifting the whole time. keeping my little butt planted while trying to foot shift this thing is a hand full

I'm 195-200 unsuited and when I had 16/43 I had a hard time with consistancy . adding gear was honestly the best thing I've done
