there are several tracks around my area and they all will let you test and tune for @ 15.00 or less on fri. but i think what is killing the bikes along with the economy is that everyone wants to be that "Grudge Racer" pitted right behind the biggest grandstand. you know that guy with the 30 people standin in his pit at all times trash talkin and throwin money around. and thats cool if you can do it!! don't get me wrong! but just cause you just got a new busa and you got some more room on your card, YOU MOST LIKELY WILL STILL NOT BE HIM!
and most of the time they spend all their money in one season and talk about how fast they went before the money ran out. almost everyone i see at the track now days has NT on their bike cause its cool like the grudge guys, and at some tracks gladly pay extra for it, even if they only running mid 6s in the 1/8th. and all i hear in the pits is how nobody likes brackets. almost every pro rider has run brackets!! and many still do when given a chance.
why would an owner set up a bracket race that pays when he can keep all the money by doin open t-n-t?
many have forgotten a few important things about racing;
1. if you work for a living, you probably cant by thousands of dollars worth of speed parts a month on a continuos basis
2. even if you can, someone is always gonna be faster or get faster than you!
3. if you don't have REAL sponsorship, this is a HOBBY!!!
4. if you dont like bracket racing, lobby for an index, you can run heads up.
ok. I'm off the soapbox, who's next?! LOL
I just hate to see whats happening to this sport and obviously others are too.

It could be the economy. But my personal opinion is that people don't get the instant
gratification they want when buying a certain bike, 14, Busa etc. They see people running
great numbers with liitle mods and wonder why they aren't doing the same and they end
up getting discouraged. What they may or may not realize is the people putting down the
numbers are also out there every weekend practicing while the others show up maybe
once a month. I only run T+T at my track and see this every Saturday. People always ask
me what they can do to get better and I tell them to show up every Saturday and get as
many passes in that you can. Later...

Or they take there bike to the track and let a light jockey ride it, get a good number and show all their friends how fast the bike is. I want real numbers with me on my bike. I am around 230LBS and I know I will nere run the times light weight riders do but I still try and give it all I got. It's just a lot of fun. With Barbers Motorsports right up the road from me I think I want to start doing some track days. I am thinking a vintage Kawasaki KZ1000 roadracer strait out of the 80's like Ediie Lawson road. Open megaphone 4 into 1 and all. I was in the museum the other day and they had what looked like Freedie Spencers 91 CB900F super sport down in the garage restoring it. Man old 80's superbikes are cool.
