How to adjust the timing on 07 zx-14???

Hey guys! Have a couple quick questions. k....we have two ZX-14's 06-07 on the 07 my hubby is trying to figure out where to and how to adjust the timing on the stock motor to advance to timing?? Is this possible without buying that Ignition module you see that is used with the power commander USB?? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Kristy

You can get the muzzy timing advancer. It mechanically advances the timing from the pickup point, so you advance the entire ignition map equally. From what I've seen, very little gains can be had from simply advancing timing on a stock motor zx14.

Muzzy sells a timing plate.
Depending on your set up of course, you might find a couple HP, but many didn't liek that the bike ran hotter, and some have had issues with advancing it, especially on the 08 or newer, caused flat spots if the fuel map was slightly lean already

You can do it with a fixed advancer, which will not allow fine adjustment across the rev range.

You can do it with a Dynojet Ignition Module, which allows for fine adjustment.

You can also do it with an MSD SB6 module, which has a host of additional features.

Its better to do it with the Dynojet Ignition module because you have more adjustablity and it does alot better job than the Muzzy ignition advancer. Just call Ivan at Ivan Performance products and he will sell you one with a custom programmed ignition map already installed into the Dynojet Ignition module and TRUST me it works very well too.....

Hey guys, Don't think my other post reply came thru bc i don't see it?? Anyways...Thank you all that replied so quickly! So tell me do you think it's gonna be a waste of time with the timing thing on a stock motor?? Any other tips on how to get a lil more HP would be greatly appreciated as well Oh and THANKS FOR THE WARM WELCOME

HERE ARE A FEW THINGS DONE TO THE 07 ZX-14

Adams arm 12" over
Muzzy side winder
Muzzy custom map for the PCIII
PCIII
BMC air filter
Butterflies removed
Orient Express Air Shifter
U4-4 Race fuel
Sprokects 1 down on front 4 up on rear

We are running on an 1/8 mile track!
Best time i've been able to run was 5.79 1/8 Now i'm stuck in the 5.90's since we changed the exhaust, swing arm and sprokects. Thinking about changing the custom map and see if that helps any.

Thanks Guys
Kristy

GREAT ideas guys We tried the TRE already didn't really work to well with him.

The MR9 fuel, Don't you have to take out whats left in the tank or it will do some damage LOL?? But have been thinking bout running that fuel.

eklipse636: Thanks will def have to give it a try!! So u think it's gonna make a difference in the 1/8 with goin from 47 to a 48 in the rear???

Thanks again guys!!

Depends on what you want from a TRE. The TRE 006a I have STOPS the de-accell pop.

Period.... with out it my 14 sounds like a small pistol going off at 3500 RPM. FACT.

How are those muffler bearings working for you? :-)

4 up in the rear would be a 45. After I tried it I won't go back. Dropped a good .05-.07 off my 60ft

KD, You have this "Hall Effect" at that magnetic pin and the legs of that tone wheel. You move out of that wave form, she both will not run; then too remember, how are you going to bring the cam's degree with you?

Now, if you could change the maps inside the ECU, that would be ideal. Anything else, you are messing with and upsetting that magnetic field on the outside. Get it? Sorta?

I had the same TRE on mine, and it worked very well eliminating decel pop with street riding, but for strip use you won't see any improvement IMO.......and KD, the couple fella's I know that run 1/8 drag are using 48 tooth setups for better #'s.......eklipse is right on the money with that one
