need go fast help
ok guys, heres the deal. I have a 2008 zx14 that I bought new. It has D+D slip ons, 1 down 4 up gearing, 6 inch stretch with a shinko 003. Everything else is stock. Also let me add that im 6' 4" ad about 290lbs. Tonight I raced my buddies new Repsol CBR 1000. The bike is new and stock. We raced twice from about 55 to about 170 mph. He pulled on me both times by a few bike lengths. He is about a 100 pounds lighter then me. What mods do I need to turn the tides?
Thanks for any and all help.

If you can't reduce your own weight, I would start with getting a full exhaust. In fact, get a full exhaust anyway. Then look into reducing the weight of the bike even further.

I could loose a few pounds but im a big guy, not a fat guy. How much power could I expect to pick up with an exhaust and power commander?

man youre just a big guy on a big heavy bike. the outcome would be different if you two were to swap bikes and you were on his. he'd come out the winner.

sorry buddy, but there's just no way that 290 beats 190 in a roll on. The bikes are too close hp wise, and roll ons are where the 1000's run best anyway. Your only chance is to take him to the track where you can use the wheelbase and gearing to your advantage and take him from a dig.

Wow that's turning pretty high , too high for a roll on I think . I think 3rd would have been better .
Usually 6K Is a good start for a Roll on . Any higher and you just run out of gear too quick while the other guy is pulling longer in the gear he's in.
A 4-2-1 exhaust and a PC should kill him and most anything you come across... Or

I'm 160 , bike has stock gearing BMC street filter and slip-ons.
157 hp .
Nothing short of a heavily modded bike gets by me .
The one I like just recently was a turbo busa I ran up on. I jumped way out ahead of him and I had him up to 170 but he kept coming fast and blew me outta the tub. He kept going too untill he was out of sight.
That was too much fun though lol!

I know... but it was a tubo booza lol!
I knew it was too cause I saw the big cone filter sticking out below in front of his bike, so I didn't even give him a chance to think about it . As soon as I spotted him I just nailed it and stayed on it till he caught me and past me a few miles down the road.
Took him a minute or 2 but he had tons of power to burn at 180 and over.

Thanks Shane.I know i will have to drop $1500 for an exhaust and power commander. It kills me to spend that kind of money for 15 hp. If I go with a small nitrous kit, do I still need a power commander?

Yes, you need a power commander in order to safely use nitrous.
15 hp is very significant, especially with the way the powerband will change. If money is the issue, get a Power Commander at Hardracing.com (under $300 shipped), and a Muzzy M14 exhaust (around $750 shipped). Shop around and you can get both for about $1000.

then adjust your gearing for the type of racing u will be doing the most of. (1/8, 1/4, roll)

Im thinking brocks and a power commander. Spending the money doesnt bother me., the 100 dollar per horsepower does. If im going to spend it, i want the best stuff. I usually dont race on the street and just have the bike to enjoy it but this was a buddy that i work with. Now its a matter of respect.
