I am new to LSR so please take my comments with a grain of salt. Right around 170mph the wind gets ugly.

Actually you're right about the 170mph thing, ive reached 178 indicated on the speedo but the bike starts to get a little unsettled like front end is lifting off with throttle pinned in 6th. The steering feels very light and vague with very little to no feedback, its not exactly confidence inspiring. The wind is extremely ugly at those speeds also, if def needs more frontal downforce as it feels like im gonna see tank slapper at any min at that speed.

Could raising your front end contributed to this?

No, raising front would help with stability but it slows steering response that's all. Its raising the rear too much which helps with turn in but you lose a little bit of stability due to the steeper rake.

Top speed is all about prep and technique. I've seen stock motor 14's going 199+ mph with smaller riders. My bike has went 193+ in the mile...and I am not a small guy.

The Busa has an advantage aerodynamically, which seems to help larger riders more than smaller riders, imo. At Maxton, the guys my size, on similarly prepped Gen 2 Busas run about 3 or 4 mph faster than I do. The tiny guys can push the 14 to right near 200, and the Busa to perhaps a little more...201-202. At Loring I ran about 2.5 mph slower than "Bullet Bob" did on his 08 Busa. 214.x for him...and 211.97 for me. He is much smaller than me.

As for wind at speed, to be honest, at 170 mph I'm not feeling much. Even at 190+ it is not that bad, nice and quiet. Practicing your tuck will calm things down a lot.

Shane any tips on setting up for top speed stability without lowering the bike? I have a steering damper already but that avoids headshake but doesn't give me road feedback to make me confident. I really don't want to lower or stretch my zx since I do use it for canyons too.

Well, I would start with the standard suspension setup. The are plenty of good articles on setting the bike up for handling. That type of general setup is a good starting point. I would set the bike up taut, and run tire pressure on the firm side. I would dial the steering damper up to a firm setting as well, for top speed runs.

I would avoid jacking the bike up in the rear too much, or lowering the front too much. For example, a tall rear tire can make the bike a little more nervous. Imo, you want to shoot for a more neutral chassis setup. With the rider in place, I usually like to have the front settle in a little lower than the rear, but not much. I do this because the bike tends to lift in the front at speed....which can cause it to feel unstable, and the front tire will "hunt" a bit. The same thing can happen if you have a less than ideal tuck. It is important to get low on the bike.

Make small adjustments and test them for stability. Work up to speed gradually, and be careful.

That's exactly what's happening, the front hunts like you say. I guess I will play with some suspension settings.

There is no Friday in Japan that only applies to American made shit. In japan there isn't a 8hr shift like we have majority of them work 60-70hrs a week, I seriously doubt they'd give a fuck what day it is working that hard. Speaking of which I bought a brand new 1999 mercury cougar back when it first came out, well the assembler thought that special model didn't need lower a arm nuts missing one on each side, can you guess what happened a week later? Yea that's the last time I buy a american car...

what's shocking is the setup/assy fees dealer charge. They want people to think it's like a Lego set ot something. Very little setup is actually required. Berts for example ranges from $1000 to 2300 in "assembly fees"
