your 08 has bested your 06 at the track ..
No mine is an 09 and made 174 .. I never did dyno my 06 so i have no clue what it made for HP ..And yes my 09 has run faster than my 06 did ..At 62 inches 8.77 for the 06 and 8.76 for the 09 ... At stock wheel base 9.18 @ 152 for the 06 and 9.11 @ 151 for the 09... I don't really think the numbers prove much of anything because they were done 3 years apart ....

This is the part that bothers me (quoted from Brock earlier in the thread):
"..................... but BMW snatched up Christine (that's what we named the BMW after she showed Ryan so much attitude last Sunday) right after we cannibalized one of their demo bikes to repair the damage this morning."
I would buy into this being a "stock" motor if Dean Phelps had been there to certify it as "stock" while Brock did the teardown.
The fact that BMW whisked it off leaves this open for the possibility of "ringer."
Besides, Brock went 7's on a street-legal 1997 Suzuki Bandit.

My youngest son Chad was the guy riding Brocks 14 at Maxton when it broke 200. My other son Zack (madkawboy) has ran 199.3 & 199.8 at the same place on his '07 14 with less mods....no ceramic wheel bearings or 0 wt. oil. It's doable.
I got the chance to spend some time on the new BMW and while it's nice and fast, I like the 14 better.

A question: Is the BMW top speed limited in any way?
Our (UK) MCN weekly publication has just done a test between the ZX-14, the Hayabusa, the RSV4 and the S1000RR. A Hyperbikes versus Superbikes test. All showroom stock bikes with no mods at all.
The BMW was fastest at 187.47, the Kwak 2nd at 184.12, the Suzuki 3rd at 183.43 and the Aprilia 4th at 175.89.
The BMW won all the various tests except for the quarter mile sprint which was: 1st Hayabusa with 10.14, 2nd ZX-14 with 10.17, 3rd BMW with 10.51 and 4th Aprilia with 10.78.
I wrote to MCN asking if the BMW was restricted in any way and gave them the unrestricted top speed of the Kawasaki for comparison. My 14, when new and totally stock, did an easy 191 and my friends did an incredible 198.7 with a tail wind. Mind you that friend is Mike Grainger who held the UK and European speed record a few years back and still holds about 5 national records, he knows how to ride.

Every manufacturor does this...it's a bike that makes the roundes to various magazines and aftermarket vendors. Nothing new about this at all...

except for a couple disrespectful azzhats in this thread, there is a lot of great discussion about a new bike that has some serious potential on the strip. Why it's being compared to a 14 is beyond me...apples to oranges.
Real world the Bee Emm will not be seen around like the Japanese bikes. BMW will have to change it's way of doing business for the people targeted for this new line of bikes. Hell, whodathunk BMW would have actually produced THIS bike! They are shifting focus to bring in new business because the pipe and slippers crowd they currently have is growing older with no new (younger) business coming in the door. Can't wait to see if they bring out a 600.

Yes, I knew about the RPM break in limit. That was the subject of a recall on the first UK models, they forgot to load the software which imposes the limit on the first batch of bikes. My question was regarding the 6th gear top speed limiter, or lack of it, which allowed the BMW to beat the Kawasaki and Hayabusa on top speed in that group rest

Shit would probably really get stirred up if the BMW has no speed limiter. The Europeans are the ones who put the speed restrictions on Japan in the first place.
