I'm guessing I could go get a '10 zx14 for probably $10,500 otd and I'd be lucky to walk out of a BMW dealership less than $15,000. I paid $6000 for my 14 used. I don't know how this place has become BMW1000.com? Maybe I should check my web browser cause I swear I'm typing zx14.com?

I could start a thread title "Oil spill in the gulf" but that doesn't mean it belongs on zx14.com

Well the good news is that you have control over which topics you look at, AND post in. Start your own threads.

Seems to me people like this thread ( 4250 views so far ) Most of the guys here have different brands of bikes and love to talk about any brand ... I simply posted the times that Brocks BMW ran , the members took it from there ..I myself don't like liter bikes , i'd much rather have my zx14 even if it is slower ( yet to be proven ) than a BMW...

I also hope mother kawi sees this post and will not take this setting down... Build us a ZX1500 before BMW releases a bike in the same class as the zx14 and Busa ...It's clear to me that they have won the liter bike wars ..Lets not let them win the big bore wars too..

and as far as winning the liter bike wars .. what has the bmw won .. it ran numbers for brock . i believe any thing brock promotes 'TEST' would run numbers .. but until it REALLY WINS SOMETHING ANYTHING . Its just another 1000

I guess you have not read this months issue of SportRider magazine yet. It beat all of the liter bikes.

I think its funny and way to ironic that all of these BMW supporters buy into all of the hype that is out there. BMW has tons of money to throw at vendors, reporters and all other media outlets. If BMW called me today and said they would give me $50k to give there bike a great review I would. Please don't believe that BMW is not buying some of these reviews and went after high profile motorcycle enthusiasts to help them as well. One other note is why is Brock so hyped about this BMW and there are not ANY parts listed for sale on his website at all for this bike? His website has tons of Kawi and Suzuki parts for sale. I would still be speaking high praise about these vendors since those are the aftermarket parts I offer..........Well, unless of course BMW tossed him a little cash. After all BMW is a very large automobile mfg too and has DEEP pockets.

Exactly! I come on this site everyday and do not own a 14 . So many good choices from more than one manufacture and displacement range baffles me why anyone could be single brand loyal with todays offerings.

My take away with the new BMW is of course the HP but after two builds basically have had a humbling learning curve over the years with my engine builds, maybe 15 hp seperates a bone stock S1000R from my curernt 1k build

Amazing you can get all that HP off the showroom with an OEM waranty, not a built motor with the realities of what comes with, NO WAIT on a build, No aftermarket out of stock issues or possible long build times its a bargain at 15k which is on the high side.

Litre bike 1k, zx-10 10-12 k OTD
Pipes -12-1500 for an exhaust.
PC-$300-400
Mapping: $200-350 depending on area and going rates
Little mods, air filter, stacks another $150-200

At 12 k likely total cost
Down time, taking off work -priceless
Maybe a true 165-170 hp and your still lacking the beans comapred to a stock S1000R

Next:

Mild engine build parts and labor Min $4500 coudl go 6-7k easily on teh wilder builds and part choices this is based on a reputable shop, not the newest guy just opened up or works out of his garage and you are his learning experement or a new parts RnD.. Also assuming you have a PC/Pipe already

Now somewhere between a true 190-205 on pump

Total cost bike + general mods+ engine build the lowest end 13 k more than likely closer to 14-15k
Downtime 3 months if your lucky, real world prolly longer

Than the electronics so to me the S1000R higher MSRP who pays this anyway? is a bargain unless you drive an OEM stock litre bike or never plan to want more hp.

Than the best value...well I guess remains to be seen still..is the RESPONSE from Japan, INC we goota beleive it will happen, too much infrastruture and history of being the top dog to sit down and IGNORE.

Germany VS Japan are you ready??? lets get it on!

Like I say, new 10R's are going for $8000-$8500, take it home.

The BMW looks great, but there are just a lot of bargains out there right now.

Did i miss something ? I found BMW parts on Brocks website ...

As far as Brocks pumping the new BMW he did the same thing for the ZX14 when it came out in 06 .. I don't know if Kawi paided him to hype the ZX14 . All i can tell you is what he hyped about the zx14 was dead nuts true as we all know ..

I still believe the zx14 is a better drag bike than the Beemer ...I bet if we put your bike to 65 inches and added the mods Brocks beemer has ...............Well you get the picture ..

I'm not a rag mag. but i can relate to the real world review motorcycle article better than a race bike that none of us will ever get a street bike even close to. Have you ridden the bike yet ?? I have and it is a great bike. I was very impressed with everything about it.
If you buy your bikes based on a race bike that is not even close to what you will ever ride, then more power to you.

i think the point is the beemer makes good hp regardless of rideability, the mph numbers speak to that. everyone that follows ultimate performance bikes like the 14... should be interested in this sort of thing. i think they raised the bar, and yes the price is higher but still as cheap as a cruiser bike and cheaper than harleys, indians, victory, and the italian sportbikes like aprilia, ducati, and mv augusta. the thing has traction control and even wheelie control that i gotta see! it is cool new technology and the rest need to respond.

Take that 189 and add MR9 fuel and Brocks O wt oil , cut the orings off the chain , add ceramic wheel bearing and see what you get ..My bet is it will be very close to Brocks numbers.. I looked at brocks dyno runs from the diary and i can't find anywhere where he made 200 HP ..I did see some high 190s ..I think 197 was the highest ..

my shit closer to a race bike than a streetbike ... isn't most of our bikes closer to race bike than streetbike .. if i wanted street i'd buy a goldwing or buell or harley.. but since the BMW can't win on the track its now a streetbike

the biggest and BEST TEST i ever seen was Ben Spies racing his track bike gsxr1000 with 50,000.00 worth of mods ..and a showroom stock out the crate gsxr1000 . on the same track and only 1 second differance between lap times .. yes i know 30 laps is 30 seconds .. but dayum how close were they for 1 lap .. and as he put it..its the closest thing to a race bike that you could own.. 50,000.00 purchased 1 second buddy on a 2 mile track ..

I looked on brocks site .. Diary bike best was not 200 or 197 ... 195 was the best and that was at STD and STD as we know reads much higher than SAE ..

My 174 on pump gas was at SAE smoothing factor 5 ..Now if i add all the goodies brock has plus mr9 and 0 wt oil .. Set my dyno to STD and smoothing factor 3 i might get real close to 195 ..
