Oh yes I'm having fun again now that my CCT doesn't have a mind of it's own. I tell ya it was hell having to baby my motor around cause everytime I hit the rev limiter the CCT would start rattling.
Mine was deffective and didn't lock correctly anymore. When it was just a startup rattle I was fine. When I couldn't rev my motor anymore ,that was the last straw lol! Now my Dads Blue 06 on the other hand doesn't even make a start up rattle. No CCT noises ever! Strange ...

It'd be interesting to switch him adjusters for kicks

Yes it would be a catastrophic kick cause the pin is already out of that grenade , it just hasn't exploded yet lol!
I'm glad it didn't explode on me and I fixed it so it won't ever happen again

One thing you might investigate. Stock has many insulation pads on the fairings. Make sure their in place. Some of mine didnt have any padding at all. After that was right, I added similar thick foam filler pads in places where hot air gets around even still around where it exits the fairings onto your legs. I got a hold of some inch thick HVAC foam duct pad about a 2ft square. Soft and heat resistant. I personally dont complain about hot summer days on a bike Thats what beer and lakes are for!

Is the modded 12 CCT still hydraulic when used on the 14?

No it never was, its auto adjusting but mechanical, its got a spring, and locks each time it moves in further.

When the chain wears over time and the chain get a little longer the plunger moves out a bit more and is locked into the next grove by a wire type retainer .. What happens to some of you that are hearing the start up ratter is the plunger is in between two of the locking groves ..Now when your chain get just a tad longer it will lock in the next grove and guess what no more rattle on start up .. As the chain gets a bit longer your rattle will come back because it will be caught in no mans land again

I seem to remember years ago when something like this happened, you'd put the bike in 2nd and push it backward, thus creating a little more slack on the tensioner side of the chain, enabling the plunger to move out to the next notch. Does anyone remember this, or know if this would fix the CCT rattle problem?

Nice is an understatement cause now I can fell free to twist the throttle without worrying about the CCT rattling on me .
And at just over 60K I want to make sure she lives a really long life.

Being a postwhore and talking about my bike racks up the posts
